I pulled the entire throttle body off the truck and cleaned it that way. I was replacing the gasket to get rid of that stupid d-ring one.. (kept it for a spare, just in case heh) :D

But yeah you could clean it without removing it from the truck, just a PITA.

Just curious. How many miles ? How dirty was it ? Had U cleaned it B 4 ? Did it cause it to run poorly ? Was the O ring leaking ? Should this be done as part of the 30, 60, 90 etc Maintenance ? Curious George[IMG] Now I'm the PITA not the throttle body.[IMG]

'Bout 113K on the clock, I have never cleaned it before, bought it used from the dealer. Idle was a tad higher than I liked, plus the TPS on the SG was reading about 14%.. down to 12% after cleaning. :D Response is better, there was a decent amount of carbon buildup on the throat and plate, toothbrush and some Deep Creep took care of that.

The gasket was not leaking, but it was the stock "D" shaped gasket, I had the one that URD sells for the S/C that is "O" shaped, so I swapped it out. Doubt it will make a huge difference, but I did it anyway.

I would definitely say that it should be part of the maintenance done to the truck, 30K would probably work, unless you're driving the thing in really nasty conditions where it would foul up more often. But I'm not a real mechanic, so.... take my recommendations with a grain of salt. :D Plus side though, it does look nicer all shiny and shit.

Thanks for reply. I PM'd Chris. Maybe we can get a tutorial or a sticky going on this if there isn't already one somewhere.

Dunno if I can make it. Going to be helping my friend replace the knock sensor in his Chev, then probably go stick it in the mud to make sure it still runs good :D
