Falken Rubitrek A/T tire

Anyone TW members with experience on the Falken Rubitrek A/T tire? Plenty of reviews on the Falken Wildpeak, but not much on Rubitrek which seems quite similar.

Not many places sell them apparently.

 

A friend that works at a large tire store told me that this tire is only going to be available to certain retailers. Basically, it will be sold through companies that buy their tires directly from Falken. You won't find this tire at small mom and pop shops that buy their Falkens through a wholesaler. Internally it is identical to the Wildpeak A/T3W so it should be a good tire. Doesn't come in as many sizes as the Wildpeak though.

 

Corny name for a tire. A tire made for the adventurous ‘Rube’.

 

Just saw the prices for 16", less than $550 for 4.

 

I have yet to see this tire in the wild, or photographed and mounted up to a verified vehicle. Show us the money!

 

I work for a national tire distribution company and have never heard of this tire. Learn something new everyday I guess

 

Exactly why I started the thread; was really hoping for some hands-on experience from a TW member that simply hadn't posted about it yet.

Why do you think it's received so little exposure?

Daaayym. That's a great looking AT. That long center lug will likely help with road noise.

...and a big concern I have is tire weight and an LRE tire on a Tacoma. I will have to look into these. I was literally about to head down to my local @Discount Tire Direct store to price tires for my truck and my wife's SUV. Glad I saw this.

 

Just got back from my local Discount Tire Brick & Mortar store. They show they cannot get them in their computer, but they are calling Falken Tire on Monday to see if they can get them. Hoping to get some more info on the tire. Will keep this thread posted. From other retailers I've seen online, the price is as attractive as the tire.

I didn't. Discount Tire couldn't get them and I wanted to go thru them for my tires. I ended up going with a different tire...

 

Wow, a 285/70/17 in standard load. The site doesn't list a weight, but with the load rating I'm assuming it's less than 50 lbs which is great for the 285 guys.

 

I’ve got probably 12,000 miles on mine in 265/75r16 and only have positive things to say. I surpassed my expectations of how they’d fare in snow. They’re not even noticeable when rolling down the highway as far as noise is concerned. For having a 4cyl. I thought they’d be the better option compared to WP A/T3w’s. Now I’m just penny pinching to swap out the steelies eventually.

 

Any other feedback on these?
