Thank you for all the info you have provided. I am going to get this stuff ordered to install in mine now. Do you know if you go a step further, install just as you have said, and add the drone mobile, can you set it up for 33.1 ready mode and use your iPhone to start the truck without doing the sequence, or is the sequence going to be an absolute must along with 33.2 with a manual?

Manual trans requires some type of ready mode sequence to prevent starting in gear. Fortins options are just manual or automatic activation of ready mode. 33.1 is manual activation and 33.2 is automatic activation. With 33.1 you have to push the start button on the remote. With 33.2 you don’t. I had to use 33.2 because I only have OEM remote and therefore no start button.

Okay got it. I would assume you can reprogram the module easily, program it to 33.2 with the procedure to use the factory key to make sure it’s all working and then try to go to 33.2 along with drone mobile to see if that works.

Assuming you meant going back to 33.1. I don’t see any issue there. It’s a pretty quick change with the flash link. But you do have to plug into the Evo one so you might want to test and make your finial choice before fully reassembling everything.

I have a 2016 SR 4 X 4 that doesn't have keyless entry. I have no idea what an H key is supposed to be. Please define H-key.

An H-Key doesn’t have to have a remote. I had this made as I’m using the long range 2-way remote from my remote starter. Just as long as the balde has the H on it.

I need to have keyless entry. I really don't care about the remote start thing. My wife had surgery the other day, and walking a doped up wife out to the passenger side, only to remember that there is no keyhole on that side is a real pain, which means I can't leave her standing there to go open the driver's side so we have to walk around to the driver's side to open the passenger side and then stagger back. Talk about two monkeys doing something to a football.

So if I have the H-key does this mean that I already have the keyless receiver already installed somewhere in my truck?

Yeah, I have seen that video. I'm not afraid to do that, but I was looking for a plug and play kit to make it easier. I guess one doesn't exist. Hence, the blurb about how certain manufacturers are working on one for the H-key.

They sell a plug and play wire harness for this.

I do have the H-key but no keyless entry. The funny thing is that my truck has only one way to unlock it, through the driver's side, which in my view was an idiotic move by Toyota.

According to the following site, it is plug and play: https://www.12volt.solutions/products/2016-2018-toyota-tacoma-plug-and-play-remote-start-h-key

What concerns me is the site references your factory push button fob, which I don't have. I do know that the H-key comes in two varieties, keyless and the one I have of non-keyless. I don't want to order the wrong part. I got taken by the intermittent wiper scam from a dealership in Ohio, which I won't name, but I am still working with Pay Pal to get a refund.

That kit appears to assume you have keyless from the factory. You might be able to add an RF kit

Fortin has a plug in harness now and you can add one of thier RF kits since you don’t have oem remote. Their remote will work the door locks too, assuming their power.
