    Hello,

Got this roof rack for a 2nd gen instead of a 3rd gen, I tried to make it work but there was a gap.

What do you mean by there was a gap? The 2nd Gen Roof Rack is the same exact one as the 3rd Gen Roof Rack. You mean the gap up front near the windshield?

That is a common problem for a lot of us. Mine has pretty settled down to the roof, but I just put black caulking around the gaps. Can't notice a thing, good luck with the sale.

Need the 3rd Gen. Want to avoid the same problem you encountered but thanks for the reply.

Black silicone in the gap doesn't work for me.

Guys there is no difference in the 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen Roof rack they will fit the same as that front piece is a real pain in the ass to get seated. So whether you buy and 2nd Gen version or a 3rd Gen version that problem still exists. Unless you want to pay the Toyota Stealership an hour or shop rate to put it on.

The problem with gap is that you have to cut the peace of metal where rubber cover sits.

    Will you ship it?

OK. Since there is no quarentee that the stealership will get it right, especially since I'm more confident I'm my ability than many of theirs that leaves the Prinsu. Which brings me to question #2. Anyone have issues with the installation and or fit of the Prinsu? Tacomaholic has a poll going on with what his next mod should be. One of the choices is the Prinsu Roof Rack. Hope that is the poll winner. Don't want any half-assed done stuff on my new Taco. If it ain't right it ain't going on my truck.

Metal piece on the rack or God forbid the roof? Apologize for my ignorance but that's why I'm asking. Assume it's the rack.
I'm comfortable working in .0001 so there's no way I'm letting a stealership cutting anything.

Oy! Not doubting anyone's response because I don't know the correct answer. Did yours come installed from the factory or did the stealership install it?
More confused now then when I asked the question.
Would love to hear from those of you that have installed a Prinsu as well.

Nope I did all 3 and unfortunately they all did the same thing, and a tech at Toyota told me it is the way the front metal piece is shaped or something. So I have no idea how the Factory does it

Thanks brother, I think more research needs to be done on my part before I do anything.
Prinsu owners, how 'bout your two cents?

If we can work out a meet point half way between you and Rockland, MA, I'll take that off your hands.
Edit; I see someone else claimed it. If the deal with the Maine dude falls through, contact me and we can work out the details.
