Yea I'm pretty sure most guys serious about wheeling a truck with a wheelbase longer than a Jeep need at least 40's to not chew up driveshafts. Mine is on 35's temporarily but I just picked up 40 iroks. Tacomaworld is just not the place most hardcore wheelers frequent.

I'm surprised pirate is dead. It's been a few since I was on there but it was a pretty active, even disregarding the profanity there was a lot going on. Good info too if you could stand the flaming.

I guess it seams like most of the truck builds and topics on here are “bolt on” builds and super general questions.

Dig deep my friend. Hidden beneath all the bolt on’s on super General questions is a wealth of info and a lot of great builds.

There are a ton of great people on here with all sorts of different knowledge. And they are always willing to help solve problems.

Here are just a few to begin with.

Why would you expect anything else? Without serious modification, our trucks just aren't built for serious crawling... Which the majority of folks aren't into anyways. I enjoy getting to places for relatively cheap (on my princess tires) and seeing things I haven't... Not breaking things everytime I'm on a trail trying to "own" a boulder. To each is their own though... Some like'm skinny...others fat you know. ;)

Besides, the days where pop taught Johnny how to weld and fab stuff are numbered... Can't expect the hipsters to mess up their man buns and get oil on the corduroys... Let alone fab a bad ass truck!

I do apologize though. I definitely wasn’t trying to insult anyone or anything of the sort. I was just hoping there were more in-depth builds on here since it’s a lot more active. There is definitely a lot of info on here don’t get me wrong and a hell of a lot of nice trucks.

Does anyone wish they had a regular cab over the Xtra cab? I wanna make a crawler with a 1st gen in a few years and I feel like that 6" less wheelbase could make a small difference

One thing I have noticed in reference to the OP’s original comment is that even with a slight uptick on the forums of SAS’s. Social media platform seem to have a lot more examples of what the OP is looking for (yeh, I know it’s an old thread).

While I have done a fair amount of searching on this site, I’m amazed at some of the builds I’ve found on Instagram, and kinda shocked there isn't as much of a presence here.
