    EDIT: Official question, "why is my locker not responding?"

    Today I decided to do the anytime locker mod. I went and bought DPDT relay 275-217 my posts are set up as followed (looking at pins)

    |7 |8
    _6 _5
    _4 _3
    _2 _1

    So I guessed by looking at pic found here: http://s82.photobucket.com/albums/j...iew&current=2005LockerModWrite-up_Page_1b.png

    Mine is setup like the one in the middle, so I corresponded the letters and number i.e. 2=A, 1=B, 4=A2, 3=B2 and so on.

    1 - blue
    2 - green
    3 - violet (splice into power)
    4 - pink
    5 - black/green
    6 - violet (splice into power)
    7 - black/red - locker switch
    8 - black/white (splice for ground)

    From reading pin 7 and 8 do not matter order. Can someone help shed some light on my situation?

    it's been so long since i done it that i've forgotten the details. FWIW, my first attempt failed and i had to re-read the diagrams for 20 mins before i figured it out. don't give up! i used the exact same instructions you are. i think there might be a conflict between the diagrams and the written instructions...cannot remember which is correct.

    I swapped the plugs and it threw all the lights (ABS, locker, 4hi, 4lo), then as I was pulling them off I forgot I let the key on and gapped two pins. I just blew a 20A fuse, so ill go get one tomorrow and look at it some more.

    Still cant figure out problem

    Question, I cut the wires and plugged them into the relay, then plugged the clip back in, what do I do with the wires I cut near the clip? Just tape off?

    I can not find a different DPDT. I am still reading trying to figure out how these are supposed to connect up. Does it matter which side of the DPDT is A/B? The locker mod wiring diagram shows 6 posts, and I have 8, why is this?

    I tried a few more configuration, and I am pretty sure I that the correct poles and throws figured out, but I still cant get it to work. My 4hi and 4lo are engaging, but I cant get my locker to turn on. The only time I see it come on is when I turn the key on (normal) and when I start the truck (didnt notice before, so I think it = not working).

    Can anyone look at their DPDT and help me out?

    Here is a drawing of the diagram on my DPDT relay. I am unsure whether either side can be A or B, so, with that in mind:
    Throw = T, Post = P (or so I think)

    1T = A1 or B1..........2T = A1 or B1

    3T = A2 or B2..........4T = A2 or B2

    5P = A or B.............6P = A or B

    7 = Coil................8 = Coil

    Jason, thank you for the response! I decided to take back my 217 relay and get a 218 relay. The relay is now engaging (I see and hear it) but I am not able to get the locker to engage (cant hear it like I normally would). I have tried the wires two different ways, like db said in that link you provided:

    1 - Green / Black
    2- Violet
    3- Violet
    4-Pink
    5- Green
    6- Blue
    7- Red/Black
    8- Ground

    I think the above wire order is different from his picture, so I wired like the pic:

    1- Violet
    2- Green/blk
    3- Pink
    4- Violet
    5- Blue
    6- Green
    7- Ground
    8- Red/blk

    Still nothing from locker, but like I said the relay is moving. Every time I turn the key to ON the locker light flashes, any idea why? Does that just mean its not working?

    Hallelujah, I got it to work! for 275-218, you want to hook up like (which is what db said);

    1 - Green / Black
    2- Violet
    3- Violet
    4-Pink
    5- Green
    6- Blue
    7- Red/Black
    8- Ground

    Like I said I could hear the relay working but not the locker. Well sitting in my drive way is much quieter than the RadioShack Parking lot and I was able to hear the rear locker try to engage, so I immediately started it up and drove it to some dirt and engaged it successfully!!!

    Thanks again for the help Jason, and thank you db for the unexpected assistance :) If somone has a question, feel free to PM me, I will try to help.

    Josh

    p.s. Note to ppl attempting this mod, for me, the locker light never flashed when it tried to engage while sitting in my driveway. The only time I saw it come on was when I put the key in ON position (not normal) and when I got it to engage.

    good job, you didn't give up! wish i coulda been more helpful, but it's been 3 years since i did it and i stumbled through it like you did :eek: i had it wrong the first time also, but i had soldered everything! yup, it sucked, but i got it on second try after re-reading directions a couple ('bout ten) times.

    Understandable, thank you for the honesty. Soldering does sound like that would make this entire process a pain in the keister. I think I have a pretty good understanding of DPDT relay now, I did a lot of reading trying to figure them out haha

    i bought a relay socket since i soldered everything...i don't wanna do that again if the relay goes bad. probably slightly overkill, but i didn't want any issues with loose/bad connections.

    Good. I'm glad everything is working again or better than before. I know when I was having trouble I was about ready to pull my hair out and DB67fm came in and saved the day. Maybe you should pass along some of that stuff were not supposed to talk about cough*rep*cough to him.
