What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Just tedious, lol. Pain in the ass doing it without a lift. I almost have it out the only thing keeping it on is the bellhousing bolts.

 

For my 4WD conversion I'm utilizing the unused RR DIFF LOCK and ABS lights on my instrument cluster to say 4HI and 4LO instead. I'm messing with the overlay in Photoshop.

 

Old response but I can't keep up these days. How many miles on the truck? Our bearings don't go bad nearly as fast as second gen's. I didn't do mine till 220k.

You read the pull the needle off method or my method with q tips? Really wasn't that bad with my method.

As already said, the aftermarket 8.8 bolts you can source not from Toyota will have 13mm heads with the same thread pattern.

ScanGauge MPG's are accurate. I have had mine for many years now. Has instantaneous MPG reading, MPG per trip, MPG per tank however you want to select. Just record your fill-ups. I always enter price paid too for accurate costs for trips. Plus there are many other X_Gauges that are programmable into the ScanGauge. Highly recommend.

What different paint would you recommend to make the needle more translucent at night?

 

I have no idea that’s the problem, but I have to replace brake backing plate, so I bought the nut and press plates to do it all

Works with 2uz and w59 trans... so tempted to pull the trigger because I have a wrecked tundra with a 4.7 just sitting at home. Anyone with input?

I mean..a 4.7 swapped taco is sweet. Guy on here did that. Wouldn't run a w59 with it though. No strong enough

 

What makes them not strong enough?

I do have a r150f lying around just would have to change the output on it or input on my j shift (kinda). I'm not a fan of the push button 4x4. I think you can buy a bellhousing for a r150f aswell instead of an adapter.

The r serise is just a stronger built transmission than the w serise.

Check out this thread. I think he ended up swapping to a 4runner tranny (the one that came with a v8) and multi mod tcase because his r150f went out.
