Buy a pop and lock for the tailgate and forget about ever pulling a key out.

I'd love to know if this is possible too. I never lock my glove box anyways, if they've broken into truck - i'd rather not fix the dash n glove box pieces as well...

Well that was a quick, big let down... haha thanks for response. So is there a CHEAP solution for a manual non powered lock replacement for our 2016 tailgates? I definitively not giving my dealer 200$

damn. that would have been a quick fix for what needed. I've to recheck my pop n lock. Hate having to carry that fat tail gate key.

The pop and lock is right at 100. I haven’t even pulled my key out to lock it since I got it. Wire it in to passenger side door and when you hit the lock button on the fob it locks the tailgate. One of the Best thing I’ve bought for my truck

is the door lock the same as the tailgate? I'll swap the passenger side with the tailgate.

:crazy:that is how they cut costs, but in a zombie apocalypse remember the driver door is what you aim for if not sure keyfob or car battery is dead.

Update! Thanks to the write up of @Aznray, I order the '17 lock cylinder and got it keyed to match the fob from my '16 taco. Local body shop took great care of me.

See post #561 and #574. There must be some variation in how far the solenoid moves. Adding something to the tab on the PopnLock that contacts the factory lock seems to be the solution.
