Have any of you guys painted the recovery hooks on your trucks? If so, how did it turn out? I was thinking of maybe painting my front hook just to make it easier to see. I'd love to see some pics.

The Previous owner of my Off Road put a Sport chin spoiler on it. Today I was planning to take it off and PlastiDip the tow hook red.

I took my chin strap off and put on an OR tow hook. I also planned on doing red. Would you mind posting pics?

Sure, I have four coats on it so far - I have no patience for the "30 minutes between coats".

I am not sure what my plan is for the bolts. I didn't bother spraying them as I knew the socket would just rip off the coating. Although, I doubt the bolts will be visible.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Four coats of Plastidip. It is a much deeper red in person. I decided to remount the hook to the truck and tape the whole area off and respray the hook and the bolts.

I guess it was necessary to do it this way if you want to spray the entire hook and then spray the bolts.

I am waiting for a bit to add the Glossifier.

So I did a couple more coats of red and then two coats of the glossifier while the hook was back on the truck - so I could get the bolts. I think it turned out well, although it is not very noticeable. 20170504_192647.jpg 20170504_192647.jpg 20170504_192522.jpg

That's cool little pop of color though. I'm doing mine today. I opted for paint instead of plastidip though. We'all see how it goes.

I think paint is the way to go, I don't have the hook but I painted my shackles. The plasti dip looks good but if you were to ever us the hook I feel the dip would just peel off.

You are probably right. I just used the red PlastiDip I had in my garage.

Dude, that looks good. Really like the color matched accents.
How are liking that skid plate? Is that steel or aluminum?

Thanks! I really like it. It's a great design, install takes a few minutes, looks good, and has an access door for oil changes. I went steel to save cost and for additional strength. More pictures are below and also in my build page linked in my signature

No, each item was purchased individually.

The tow hook is the OEM tow hook that comes on the offroad model. I painted it blue to match the truck.

The skid plate is from RCI and is steel. I painted it with bedliner and then stenciled out TRD with blue paint to match. I posted more photos a few posts up.

All of the recovery gear are various items I purchased individually as well.
