I finished the power wires for my front camera:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P2EN5J2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It fits the badge nicely, but doesn't point down far enough to see any of the bumper and it is not wide angle at all (all lines in the field of view are straight).

    IMG_20180105_150525.jpg

Just under 4in from the front of my license plate (I deleted the stock mount / the plate is attached directly to the bumper):
    IMG_20180105_153003.jpg

For switched power, I soldered the camera power leads to the power port. It was pretty easy to disassemble:
    IMG_20180106_121053.jpg

I also installed a dual USB power supply in the left blank position:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FFL2E6Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I found a non-switched connector behind the drivers side kick panel that was unused. I soldered a spade connector to the USB power supply. The negative went to a ground point that is right behind the HVAC panel.

This power supply has some blue LEDs that are on all the time. It is a bit annoying. I might paint over them? I am not predicting any battery drain from the lights and can add a switch if needed.

Yea, or looking the other way while talking, or moving around father and closer to the camera, or, or..............

Just another prime example of why YouTube should have moderators to determine the value of videos.

Those map lights are awesome. Except my Wife and Daughters cannot do red lighting for some reason. They yell at me when I walk around with my headlamp set to red.

    Strange women!

What did you use to connect the camera to the screen?

Other than parking, what is the point of a front camera? Just want to know out of simple curiosity...

    Frank's excellent cable:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-navigation-override-smartphone-mirr.501617/

I have some posts in that thread with pics of my install after the general routing shown in the installation video.

Parking! Parking lots are not a problem, but our garage is tight. The camera helps a lot.

damn... had i seen those back in the day i would have used them instead of the OE stick ons. coverage is better on those. no issues with the OE's, just plenty of exposed sill afterward.

Thanks...mine is tight as well (that's what she said!), but a 2X4 fastened to the floor and a 2' long 1" thick piece of industrial foam did the trick for me...

But any time one can do cool mods, they should take that opportunity. Nice work, btw!

Haha! I painted some marks on the floor for the position of the front left tire. That is for when the the motorcycle is stored in front of the truck. When the bike is ready to ride, the truck is further in. I now have a chalk mark on the wall for the camera to target.

    Thanks. Modding is always fun.
