So I'm doing the heated mirror mod found, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-heated-mirrors-diy-mod.193528/. The only thing I'm having some trouble with is figuring out the wiring for an Air on Board switch. The switch is not timed and is just on or off but it has two illumation circuits. I am trying to wire it to a relay and want to make sure it's done correctly.

So far I have it as:

    Switch
Red - to 12v accessory power with 30 on relay tied in as well
    Green/yellow - to 86 on relay
Blue - need to find illumination wire on fog light switch
Black - to ground along with 85 on relay
87 on relay sending power out to eat mirror
Each mirror will have its own ground

    Does this look correct?

According to my sheet from aob you have your red/yellow and green/yellow wires reversed. But let me warn you that you have the wrong switch. You need a momentary switch with a timer for heated mirrors. If you leave that switch on for too long you will burn up your heater circuit.

image.jpg Oh I know I will have to turn it off when I'm done heating, I will be getting an oem switch eventually just not sure what switch I want to use. So this will do for now. This is the diagram I was using from air on board, it states to use the upper one if not using the switch for lighting.

Something like this would work nicely with a momentary switch.

Yes and positive in to switch is green/yellow and red/yellow is positive out to relay. I have the same sheet. If you are using the same power source for the relay and switch the green/yellow wire will get connected to the same wire at no. 30 and the red/yellow will go to no. 86

What did you wire up with your switch? And why would you recommend against the AOB diagram?

I don't disagree with aob instruction sheet, it is wired for driving lights to be used only with your high beams. I wired up lights that work all the time. The green/yellow wire is power in to the switch. It can be used with any power source you want. Switched on with ignition or hot all the time. Red/yellow is power out to relay. If you wire them backwards half of your switch will light up when your switch is on or off.

If you want to try a test, connect the green/yellow wire to battery + and the black wire to the negative - on your battery and do not connect the other wires to anything. Now when you turn the switch on half of it will light up. When you turn it off the light will go out. If you disconnect the green/yellow wire and connect the red/yellow wire to the battery + and leave the black connected to the negative. No matter if the switch is on or off it will be lit up.

Alright thanks, AOB seems to suck with customer service when it comes to wiring so hopefully this does the trick. Looks like I'm either gonna order a timed relay or just go with an oem switch in the not so distant future.

So left my wiring as is and everything works great, the switch lights up when the headlights are on and the top half lights up when the switch is pushed. So diagram one was correct. Thanks for the assistance anyways.

You're asking for trouble without a timer:

    Here's the right Toyota part:

Toyota Highlander Mirror Switch Part No. 84871-48030 = $60
Toyota Highlander Mirror Switch plugPart No. 90980-10789 = $5

I got mine at a wreckers.

That switch is a lot more expensive now, you can't find it for 60 anywhere.
