I don’t think the thin aluminum would work too well to support heavy stuff like jerry cans or high lift jacks. Lightweight stuff like TREDs/Maxtrax probably would be an easy DIY mod to attach mounting pins and hang them on there for easy access. Probably wouldn’t be hard to to something similar with a bracket with quick fists for a shovel or lighter weight axe.

At first I didn’t care for the smooth sides but it does give some options if you wanted to mount anything.

I was talking about mounting stuff to the side skins, not the extrusion framing. That would be a definite difference in weight handling. I plan to mount an awning, either the TJM I have now or hopefully a foxwing style.

I 2nd this question, since I will most likely be pretty far down the list (hoping to get finds and submit around March).

Also, is your rig on stock suspension? How does it feel with the topper on back? I know its light but you seem to be doing some washboard/desert type stuff. I am also interested in how it likes to be flexed on rocky terrain since that what we have in my side of town. Does it seem to stiffen the bed or would you still recommend bed stiffeners?

We should be talking a few weeks between payment and having the product ready to ship, not months. Payment will be handled on an individual order basis, I will call the customer directly to get everything sorted beforehand. We wont just have every person pay at once, and see how long it takes. That make sense?

Reports back from Wiley are that he cant even feel a load on the truck. Running Old Man Emu BP-51 coilovers all around with a deaver leaf pack, build thread in link below. In terms of rocky terrain, the camper will be totally happy anywhere.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ackcountry-access-build-with-opinions.523145/

Bed stiffeners would probably be beneficial on any taco. I wouldn't say you need stiffeners any more than folks that run a normal topper on a tacoma, but if you drive hard offroad and strap stuff down in your bed it might be advisable. The Platform probably adds a bit of structure once its all bolted down, but we aren't claiming anything at this point.

Been following the thread with great interest. In case I missed it: what are the interior lighting options for the tent? Maybe include some hanging loops or mesh pockets, for camping-style lanterns and headlamps...

Looks like that large, flat ceiling surface would lend itself well to stick on battery or usb powered led strips.

Am I reading this correctly? It sounds like the mattress is 50" x 90" overall??? That sleeping bag is 90" long?

I also think it would be rad to see windows (even just inoperable screens) near the tall end, in addition to the current location. Half the time I sleep head forward, half the time reversed. I would love to be able to air out/see/vent right next to my pillow, regardless of orientation. Options, options, options. Please make it happen fellas, you know you want to...

For my sake...and anybody else out there with wives who are ubed sleeping.jpg nsure....we need a video walk through!
It go a long way to help convince her we can make it work
(Side note we have 2 small kids we are trying to fit in a single 1 truck platform. I think this can work...she's n the fence.)

This is a very quick rough sketch I made....obviously without exact measurements of the topper but trying to illustrate a configuration of "bunks" down below for the kids once they get to big for the tent top with us. The blue is the "bunk"

    Kids are easy man.

Buy a cheap ground tent and some small air mattresses. They will think it's the coolest freaking thing in the world to have their own tent.

Leaves the love hotel wide open for the adults
