I agree on paying it toward your loan, but if you must spend it on the truck then the OVtune (best $800 you could possibly spend on this truck)...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-toyota-tacoma-v6-ecu-tuning-alpha-release.495735/

And speaker upgrades: I thought this thing needed a whole new system...till I simply swapped out the 6 stock speakers for less than $250 and it was like a whole new system:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/premium-audio-upgrade-for-less-than-250.510424/

Of course neither of these make your truck look cooler, they are completely functional upgrades...if you are into function over style these would be my suggestions. I don't have any style suggestions, I'm a fashion disaster.

It’s just a crazy thought. Nobody really NEEDS to do anything. Where I wheel, there’s a peak I like to summit. There’s no reason for me to be there. There’s no paycheck or hot meal up there. But I like to go there, and a reasonable lift/larger tires make the trips easier and safer for my vehicle. But still at the end of the day, I didn’t need the lift, and I didn’t need to go up the mountain.

I also didn’t need to sex up my gf last night. It’s not like we’re tryig to have kids. And I didn’t need to experience 95% of my most cherished life experiences. Why do I even do anything anymore.

Tl;dr 95% of people don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about ever

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.

Payoff is always best. However, if you are like most people you will spend the $$ on upgrades of some type. The best thing you can do, if you don't pay down your loan, is to sit down and plan.

Figure out what you want to do with your truck.THEN try some things, if you think you want fatter bigger tires for looks, look around at other rigs, talk to the owners see how they like it and what they would have done different. If you want to overland or do some crawling find a few people or a group to go with and learn. (Did you need fat tires or did you need taller thinner tires) once you have had a little experience and asked a sufficient number of questions (different for different people) then revisit your plan. It may turn out you don't like crawling but like mudding. That will change your plan. It will also give you some experience so you can fully take advantage of your upgrades.

Once you are ready THEN pull the trigger on the things that get you toward your goal. You will be way happier if you do and it will end up costing you less in the long run.

It's your hard earned $$ and that $$ is the result of your hard work and time. You can't get that time and effort back, but the $$ you earned can help you enjoy the time you have if you spend it wisely.

    Good call...

And OP is definitely in the right place to browse around on other guys/gals trucks, find what fits their likes and dislikes. Don't rush into a decision, and make a decision you'll be happy with instead of just running out and doing something that you look back and say, "why did I spend the money on this?"

My $1000+ so far has been on my running boards, window tint and Bak Revolver hard tonneau. But that was what I wanted and I took the time to make sure those were the right items for ME.

Choose what is right for YOU! Good luck in your choice, and post up when you do. We all love to see what everyone is doing to theirs to make it THEIRS.

It's a new year, so you can start making your Roth contributions again. Should max it out every year IMO.
