    Hello Taco Team!

I have a stupid first time Taco owner question!

From what I can gather people have done this mod to they can tie down at the front end of their 16-17 bed.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/installed-d-rings-in-the-bed-pics.28533/

However I have a 2018 which has these tie down points. From what I understand 16-17 modals do not have this.

    The question:

Is there anything wrong with using the above shown tie downs?

FYI this is for a 07 r6 tack bike ~ weight is 320lb will be using canyon dancers

    Mine too.

No, not hard points. I wouldn't use them for a bike.

No front "D" rings on the 2018's...??

That's just 1 more thing Toyota is "clawing back" to try and save 13 freakin' cents US...!!

Add this to the driver's "oh shit" handle and the driver's seat back pocket....etc, etc....!!

Pretty soon an "upgrade" from the Tacoma will be a KIA "sportage"....!!!

Do you have a front rail yet? I don't see one in the picture you posted. You will need one with those BAMF brackets.

    Since no one answered clearly.

All 3rd gen have those tie down points. (And 2nd gen)
Since the bed is plastic, the thought is that they are not very strong, so people add tie down points to the bed bolts which go to the frame.
Those OEM points will work fine for a bike, but there are better options.

That black d ring seems to be new? I wonder if they added that one to the long beds also?

That is just the $25? kit you can get from the parts department. I've recently seen some dealers putting them on for the trucks they have on their lot. It's not a factory added part.

    Ah! Thanks.

The six bed bolt d rings that I linked in Post 7 were about $21 delivered. I do like the black Toyo ones since they freely rotate, but. . .
