I think a good solution for you would be to round out the inner edges of your existing point, lessening the abrasive force on the soft shackle. I think doing that, paired with a soft shackle like these that have a protective outer edge will be plenty safe and get you a lot of life out of them. This way you don't have to potentially weaken your recovery point.

I keep seeing that brand on Amazon. I went with the bubba brand, but considered these also. Looks like the size is comparable to the ones I bought. I have 2 bubba shackles now. A 32k load and a 56k load. The bubba brand is not cheap! I hope you get some good results using it. 2 of these will be the same cost as one bubba.

That's the main reason I went for it. That, and the fact that I could get it nice and quick with Amazon (otherwise I'd go blue ridge overland). I figure there are only so many ways to skin a cat with these things, and some of the price comes from name brand. I'm hoping for good results as well.

From what hunter had said (possibly this thread, maybe the NJ BS thread, I dunno) there is many different types of whatever threads they use for these ropes, synth winch lines, or what have you. I wonder if that has anything to do with the pricing... I tend to agree with you though as far as only so many ways to do them. If what hunter says has any weight, then for me I wouldn't want a recovery piece made with "less than" materials. That being said, I have high hopes for the one you have. Would be nice to not spend bubba money when I inevitably buy more soft shackles.

Hmm, interesting. If that is accurate, then I would definitely agree with not wanting inferior material, especially when you can spend another $10 and get one from Blue Ridge Overland that's hand made in the US, and I'd assume they're made from quality material since I have read good things about them. Fingers crossed that this thing treats me well.

On another note, when messing with the rear on our trucks, you'll need to tune your bumpstops for the proper amount of uptravel so you don't bottom out. Here's a thread on a more frugal approach, which I think is great because I never hit my bump stops and don't need something super smooth. Also check out this other thread for another, similar option.

EDIT: when paired with a u bolt flip kit, about $80 from wheelers.

Sweet. I was having a decent discussion with stairgod tonight about the rear suspension, specifically using those Archive hammer hangers. We were discussing the differences between the hammer, OEM shackle hangers, and a shackle flip. Talking about how they each work, the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other. Bump stops did come up. Also, placement and proper install of a shock relocation kit.

I'll give that a read. Thanks!

This reason alone is why I want to have a professional install it, and why I'll be going to archive themselves to get it done. I'm all for DIY, but some things I would just rather have a pro do so I don't need to worry about it in the slightest. I know it'll all be properly measured and tuned which will be nice.

But also, mine was 50$Cad (0,005$Us), so should be the V6 one too. And install on a V6 is pretty easy according to what I red. Better have it than not, only you know if it will be a well invested mod lol
