You mean adding hoops? No. I don't particularly like them. We left it as an option though, should I change my mind.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I'm not particularly a huge fan either.

I was gonna say just try and message Jimbo. He is more active on TW than Eddy is.

Got a question about the Chevy 63’s @Rattletrap66.

Do you know how well they carry large amounts of weight? I have an RTT and rack and might be getting a rear bumper with swingout in the distant future and was just wondering if they were a good option? Would it be better to do 4 leafs instead of 3?

Figured I’d ask in here to get other opinions too but mainly wanted to ask you since you run them.

Yep, no problem. I can tell you on the back, you fill it with weld and then sand it smooth. I'll get pics for you of the side bead though.

Here's the couple that I welded, before deciding to let Joe finish up. He was saying to burn them hotter, but my basement isn't wired to handle that load.

Thanks. I didn’t find instructions in my TC package. Are there instructions that I was supposed to get?

Yeah, mine came with some. They said to weld the back and grind flat, and then lay a bead on the outer edge of each one. Here are the two I boogered together. I can post the instructions later if you like.

Yes they do carry weight well. Just make sure you pull them off an actual Chevy. I have a friend that got his new and they were made in China and did not carry load the same. I have an RTT with rack and HC bumper and they do great. I am using 3 leafs since I don’t have a swing out and full size spare. Also have towed pretty heavy with it and had little sag.

Good deal! I wanted a slightly cheaper option to forking out another $500+ for heavy duty leaf springs. Which think is the main reason people run these, right?

You have to get a mount kit, cut the old mounts off, then weld new mounts on, may cost you more unless you feel comfortable doing that yourself than buying new leafs. Try this thread it's a good starting point for reference. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-chevy-63-leaf-spring-swap.377756/

That is one reason. Another is the amount of travel you can get without having to go with a custom pack. As long as you can weld or have a friend that can, I’d say go for it!
