Pretty sure one of my lights has a flicker . Gonna double check the connectors are plugged in firmly. It's one of my older Hikars thats in the fog light. I've noticed it several times now.

There are pros and cons to each method...but you greatly exaggerate the cons of going the cheaper route to the point of it being an outright lie.

It literally took me about 20 minutes to install 4 resistors on all 4 corners. Yes there is a chance the wire can corrode if you don't shrink wrap it or coat it with silicone. Yes, if you don't completely seal the wire, it will eventually corrode over the years...but it will not "damage" the truck. Besides, wires are easy to replace for a few dollars max...not anywhere remotely near the "tens of thousands of dollars" you are talking about.

Also, you can easily remove the resistors, reconnect (solder) the factory wires, and then reseal the factory harness so that it looks stock again. There is no "damage" to the vehicle.

So for me, in order to spend only 1/3rd the price, I was willing to spend the extra 20 minutes to add resistors (and another 30-40 to put it back to stock when I sell the truck) to appease my LED needs. To each his own

Maybe you “can” do that level of competent work and are capable of doing a professional job on resealling the wires, that’s cool. But that’s arguing the exception. You need to buy tools and supplies to do that, factor that into your cost. The vast majority of people here aren’t capable and don’t have the tools. And it’s not what the average person does. I’ve been watching people do these kind of hack jobs since the 90s with wiring. Most people tap them in and that’s it. Literally.

I responded because people seem to be under the impression you must add resistors and this is simply not true. There are options for people who don’t want to mess with taps. I couldn’t give two shits what people tell themselves to justify doing a piss poor job. Shitty lift kits still sell all the time and knock off parts are common.

I’m willing to bet a whopping 1% of people who blew thier body ECU went into the dealer and admitted the truth. I bet 99% of them put the stock bulb back in, went to the dealer and claimed it under warranty.

Weak shit.

 

Tried installing a LED (3.8 inches/96mm) on the low beam and found out that it didn’t fit because it was too long to get around the tight angle behind the low beam socket. As you can see, LED with a fan on the back makes it too long to get the bulb in. I tried every angle to get it in but couldn’t. So anyone looking at a LED conversion should make sure it’s not too long.

 

Quite sensitive this one is. Lighten up he should.

I read somewhere.... this thread ? A vendors blog ? I don't recall but somewhere someone mentioned the possibility of having to loosen the light and tip it out a bit from the top to get access. I was very happy when I found I did not have to do that to install my Auxbeams.

Yours is close, almost looks like you could "tip" it in there, but I'm sure you tried every angle. Maybe try to loosen up the light at the top ?

By returning them. Honestly, I tried Cougar Motor and Beamtech LED's to see if there was an easy, cheaper solution to going HID. I figured if I was going to do much more than swap a bulb, I'll just go with the Hylux Tech HID kit. I decided to simply go HID for the low beams on both my wife's T4R and my 18 DCSB OR.

I tried the ones you listed and found these to be brighter. I have dark tinted rear windows and the brighter bulbs definitely helped when backing!

 

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. The fact that they were $17 for 5 sets made them pretty attractive.

 

They were Racbox, but also goes by the names of Safeco, LED 7s, and many other. But I am fine that it didn't fit because I can return them. Especially after read so many reviews about how noisy the fans are I decided to look into fanless LED. I really don't care if the LED are not too bright. As long as they are 6000-6500k. I generally don't drive too often at night and I tend to leave the fog light on anyway. Just want the low beam light to match as close a possible with my fog.
