    Whole lotta stuff
That's from the bypasses. All of them do it, be it Kings, Fox, Icon, ADS. Avoid bypasses or modifying your IFS in general if you're concerned with noise

Forgive me for not reading through the entire thread, but I am looking to get my hands on a set of these really soon. I have been looking for some insight from those that live in the Midwest or where salt and rust are of mediocre concern.

I have done some research and posted a thread about that here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ads-coilovers-life-in-the-midwest-rust-belt.527964/

I have also reached out to Marie at headstrong offroad. Reply here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-overland-build.302427/page-152#post-16858740

Anyone have any more input or recommendations?

    TIA

This right here is one of the reason I went with ADS. I was in the process of moving to Wyoming and thought they used salt (which they don't)so I had to research. ADS has the best coating for preventing rust out of Icon, King, and fox.

The used to have a little segment on the old site about the coating that is used now it is just a tidbit of information under the shock body section. But either way this is a great read to get you convinced!

Does anyone else think the rear piggybacks are abnormally stiff? I feel like im driving in a lowered race car and feel every bump. On the interstate in a construction zone? Forget about it.

Did you buy heavy duty leaf springs and have no weight in your truck bed?

Hmm shouldn’t be to stiff with the standard. You can always get the valving checked out by a shop if it’s a big deal. Maybe they put to much nitrogen in your rears?

Could it be that they need to be rebuilt? My ADS stuff has about 10k miles on it and wondered how I would know when its time to get them rebuilt. Im a rebuildable suspension noob so please excuse the silly question if it is one.

In short yes, based on your picture it looks like you off-road a decent amount. For heavy off road use they say inspect and service shocks about every 1000 miles, for some street/some off-road about every 10,000 and if you only drive street then your safe for 50,000 miles. Your decreased dampening could be a sign you need service.

Here is a read through for you to start you off. I found it had some good info.

It may be possible, I believe stock pressure is 200psi. Regardless, it is way too stiff and I didn't think that the leaf springs were the cause.

I got a 04 v6 5spd ext cab. Getting a great deal from headstrong on an ADS front setup with OME rear shocks and dakars til I can relocate the rear shocks. My question is spring rate. I do have full relentless skids about 180 lbs, bamf sliders about 80 lbs and definitely getting highbrid or plate bumper and winch. Would the 600 lb coil be enough or go 650 just in case?

I have similar stuff in slides, skids, rear bumper, and new front bumper with winch shipping next week. I went with the 700Lb coils to handle the extra weight.

You'll probably be close to zero preload before the bumper, but can crank them up where you want it after you get it.

I would never reccomended 700lb coils on a 1st gen.

Oh, glossed over the first gen part... but i didnt think it matters though since its all about the amount of weight being added to the front.
