Don't know tbh. I was the first to report this on TW almost a year ago. Have read of possibly two other issues similar to what may have occurred to my truck.

With everyone complaining I'm surprised everyone even buys the truck. I have an 18 TRD Sport FC with leather, nav and sunroof and absolutely love it. I already have 8,000 miles on it and not one issue. Now howling rear diff, manual trans is great, no wind noise. If I had to complain about anything it would be the auto dim high beams. They tend to get somewhat confused at times. But that's it.

Manual Transmission available in Los Angeles!

Hi everyone! I have been shopping for my first Tacoma. I have spent a lot of time lurking here on TW, which has allowed me to go to dealerships with more knowledge of these trucks than most of the salesmen! I really want a manual, but it has been difficult to find one to test drive. I will probably order one exactly the way I want it, but I wanted to test drive one first. To my surprise, I finally found a 2018 TRD Off Road w/ Technology Package at Penske Toyota in Downey, California. The salesman's name is Danish, he was very helpful and did not pressure me at all. I do not want this particular truck because it is White. I want to get basically the same truck in black or MGM.

So...if anyone in the LA area has been searching for the very elusive TRD off road with a manual transmission, and doesn't mind white, or simply wants to test drive it like me, go check it out!

    coming soon
newb here. head spinning and wallet thinning after a few months reading through these forums but some awesome info here. thanks to all who take the time to post. this place is incredible! Another Canadian (New Brunswick) very happy to be in a 16 OR MT AC LB quicksand. after over ten years in an 03 tundra I didn't expect to have v8 power and Im spending less at the pumps than before so rather than bitching I am absolutely loving this thing so far. I hopped into a lease take over at 24k miles and Aside from a noisy clutch which I fixed on my test drive (thanks to my first TWvisit) the service records showed nothing but scheduled services. so far its fun to drive, but about to get more fun.

I'll get some pics up soon when she's all ready...didnt have it home a week until I ordered OME kit front/back,JBAs, sttmaxx255/80s on new 17s and a few other extras. lots more planned but gonna kill some chrome and take care of a few easy mods when I get a decent day while I'm waiting for the good stuff. I hate asking but I can only find so much through the search tab without reading 300+ pages.
    - Im at boat launches a lot so going to do the rear diff breather (same parts from prev gens work here?)
UNION (FOR VACUUM PIPE); UNION (FOR VACUUM PUMP); UNION, No.1; UNION, VACUUM HOSE (FOR MANIFOLD SIDE) . UNION; W/TACHOMETER
    Part Number: 9040451319
    PLUG, BREATHER (FOR FRONT DIFFERENTIAL)
    Part Number: 9093003136

    - I do cross some water/break ice at times when back roads get washed out, nothing to deep and not too often but do I need to look into locker or any other breathers too? if so links or parts needed?

    - anything else I should look into or keep watch if towing a boat around 2500lbs (750tongue) ?

Is the rear locker an option? I have a 6 spd TRD sport but don't seem to see the rear lock button anywhere?!

Are 4 cylinder 4x4 manuals available this year anywhere? Is this combination becoming a unicorn?

Yeah. They killed the 4cyl MT for 2018.

    Not a good move, IMHO.

It was cancelled as far as l know, you would have to search around to see if a Dealer has an unsold 2017 still left.
