What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

It is dead - but I had a running car hooked up to it and was getting 13v after the battery leads. I managed to jump it two different times with two different cars before it stopped starting.

I have the clutch pushed in and the transmission in neutral. I even tried first and same result.

 

Just get a new battery. Going to have to anyways.

I'll pick one up from the junkyard, don't know if I want to sink money into this truck if I can't get the title cleared.

Anything else it could be?

 

Take the battery out of your truck and pop it in there and see if it'll start. That way you can be sure if it's the battery or not.

 

The clutch switch as previously said. I'd bet if you take it to the auto store it won't test good though

 

Think that would be causing the rest of the interior not to work? I'm not getting a chime when the key is in ON or any dash or reading lights. Horn and headlights work and that's it.

 

Did you check all the fuses?

 

Didn't check the fuses, popped the covers off and didn't find anything for starter or dash lights so I didn't bother checking it. Think it might be Gauge or something? Got too cold so I packed up for the night.

I just feel like I'm missing something since it started two previous times no issue

I'll fudge with the leads tomorrow and try again. I measured the leads after the battery posts and they were getting 13v from the running car next to it.

 

Those fuses are in the cab under the driver side air vent

 

I saw those - I'll check those tomorrow along with the clutch switch. I'm guessing there's a park neutral switch or is that only with autos?

 

You know what, I could have dislodged a ground lead. I took my air compressor and blew into the engine and into the cab to get rid of all the dust. I might have a bad path to ground somewhere.

I just tried turning the emergency flashers on and the flashing and clicking quickly got faster and faster until the flasher died.

 

Also check the battery terminals clean them and tighten them up.

Had this happen recently & it was a "glazing" inside of the ground clamp-cleaned inside of both clamps - started right up & everything works

 

Did stuff this weekend but didn’t get any pictures, will update with actual pictures

 

Got a call from my buddy who rolled the tundra. He's giving it to me as long as I do the engine swap lol. Took the engine out over the weekend and sent it to a mechanic. He's just going to give it a once over.

 

Just swap out a battery from one of your other trucks to see before u buy a new battery, it's probably just the battery
