How about if I use that wiring harness and use an adapter similar to this? That way the difference in high beam lights from the Subaru to ours will be converted with the adapter. Is that safe or too much stuff in the middle to fail?

I don't understand why people are going off about this this being illegal and blinding? Are you guys using your high beams when there are other cars that close to you where it would be a problem...? If that's the case then yeah...don't do that.
I'd love this for offroading on dirt roads so I could see farther with my high beams but have my fogs lighting up the area directly in front of my truck - best of both worlds.

If you can explain why you need to see 20 ft ahead and 500 ft ahead at the same time i will totally get on board with this mod...

Well, first of all...why not? If you're off-road and not worrying about blinding people, light the bitch up I like to say . But honestly, many times I've been out now where I would like to see farther of the up coming road but also see in front and to the side of my truck clearly (animals, rocks, big holes etc)

Your cops are stupid then. Fog's aren't even bright and they just let other cars see you easier. "Hey, stop letting people see your vehicle! It's distracting"

What is there only one car allowed on each road at a time where you live? Are people not allowed to bike on the sidewalk because a driver might see them and die automatically?

Edit: Can anyone explain to me, how driving with my fogs on is bad? Some of you are annoyed by it and hate it, I literally don't understand how it affects anyone negatively. They aren't super bright and are aimed super low, who is this hurting? @dYL0n I am looking at you bud. I get the HID in the wrong housing etc... but what is wrong with a fog light

Second edit: I googled this and as far as I can tell people claim fog lights blind other cars? Unless you are running some real powerful fogs I do not see this as possible. I drive by hundreds of cars with fogs all the time and have never once been bothered by it.

I also run with my fogs on when there is no fog. My fog lights are aimed perfect and do not glare at oncoming vehicles. I've ever had a problem with the police. The fog lights fill in areas that the low beam doesn't such as the sides and straight in front of the truck.

This is why I don't understand who is being blinded. As long as your lights are aimed properly, and you aren't using high powered replacement bulbs...what's the problem? I've been blinded by lots of different car lights, but never a fog light.

I didnt say I approve, I just said they are starting to do something about it. I never knew this and have always ran with fogs on. I have never been stopped by a city cop, however a State trooper followed me into a parking lot and notified me of this recently. He was cool about it and said turn them off and we went about our business, but I am just letting OP know, be careful.

Yeah sorry if it came off like I was attacking you. I would be calling and complaining to my state troopers if I lived somewhere and the staties were wasting time on fog light enforcement, we have much larger problems, and they are real. This fog light thing is insane to me, and I guess I will never understand.

edit: A commenter on that article proves the cop wrong:

    B. Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not more than two fog lamps mounted on the front of the vehicle at a height of not less than 12 inches nor more than 30 inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands and so aimed that when the vehicle is not loaded none of the high intensity portion of the light to the left of the center of the vehicle shall at a distance of 25 feet ahead project higher than a level of 4 inches below the level of the center of the lamp from which it comes. Lighted fog lamps meeting the above requirements may be used with lower head lamp beams as specified in R.S. 32:321.

When fog lights are aimed properly they are not blinding to oncoming traffic...

And how much fog is allowed before you can turn on you fog lights. Who judges when you can use them? Does smoke count? How about rain?

It is good to know about that experience. I just don't see how they could honestly give you a ticket and have it stick if your fogs are DOT approved and meet the stated criteria? That says to me that they need to make an addendum before they can just bust people. At the same time, are they going to start giving Mercedes and other sports car drivers shit just because they have fogs on with low beams?

That's a good question. A drivers opinion will definitely be different from the cops opinion.
