    Hello Gents,

Before you flare I have searched all weekend and find varying opinions all over the board. I know several things: ride will be compromised with 2.5 setting on 5100s and alignment will be at the limit. The springs will be compressed and 285s will not fit on stock wheels wihout spacers. 255s will but selection is limited.

My goal is a leveled reliable vehicle with 33s on stock wheels as inexpensively as possible...

My questions regarding the OME 3" vs 5100s are:

Does the 3" setting still put the alignment settings at their limits(or does emu correct this somehow)?

Would UCAs be needed to fix this on the 3" emu setting?

Does the EMU or any other lift ride better when the stock springs are replaced up front (rather than the compressed stock coils)?

Would you rather run an inferior 255/85-16 (loud, heavy, no-mileage warranty)? Or a higher quality michelin, etc 285/75-16 on wheel spacers?

I know this lift has been done before in many configurations. PLease help.

I've been running Bilstein 5100s at 2.5" for about 30,000 miles and I think they ride great, handle great, and are decent offroad. My truck aligned in factory spec just fine (both before and after Camburg UCAs), and I'm running 285/75/16s on aftermarket wheels, and I think the setup is perfect. I have no experience with the OME stuff, but I know the alignment will be the same. The factory control arms/spindles are what determines the alignment, and OME does not change this.

    Why?

And why recommend a block over an AAL?

Also, isn't the OME stuff more like 2.5-2.75 or is it different because you have a prerunner? I have a TRD sport double cab and am expecting about 2.5 from the OME lift. And I plan to do the TSB AAL in the rear to level it off. I do not plan to get UCA's.

That is my plan and I hope I can stick to it. I'm not buying until later this summer (after 2 long distance trips).

Listen to the man. I've seen it in person, and it's quality.

As for the thread, I'm also running bils @ 2.5" and it's fine. I'm running an awkward tire size, as I got them for free, but the alignment wasn't too far off when we put the bils in. Rides great on the highway and the streets, haven't had an opportunity to get it off roads yet, but I will very soon.

i'll flare a little, but help in the end.

if you found that the alignment at 2.5" is the limit w/ the 5100s, what makes you think it will be any better w/ the OME at 3"?! reason that out and search a little harder next time!!

ok, yes, ANY lift over 2.5" you will need UCAs to correct the alignment. struts cannot do anything to adjust alignment in it of themselves.

yes, you would need new UCAs if you run the OME at 3"

the OME springs are a higher spring rate than OEM. i believe that chris4x4 stated that OEM springs compressed are about the same rate as teh OME ones when used w/ teh OEM shocks.

tire choice all depends on how you will use the truck. hwy, offroad, trailrig, sand, mud, etc...

with all that said, i ran the 5100s at 2.5" setting w/ OEM UCAs for almost 2.5 years. i had great tire wear and alignment.

^ but aftermarket wheels right?... there is no way to run OEM 5.25" or whatever BS wheels w/ 285s w/o rubbing on the UCA.

Maybe I missed something, but do you run the 5100's all around or just in the front?

Actually, The OME 885's are a little softer than the 5100's with a stock spring set to 2.5"...

the fronts are the only ones that are adjustable to provide lift. the rears are slightly longer to accommodate up to 2" of lift in the rear from some other means. you dont have to run the rears if you have the fronts

default settings are 0, .85, 1.75, 2.5. can be made to handle different heights when paired w/ different coils

I've got an '08 double cab PreRunner and I am running 5100's on the front set at 0 with OME885x coils. Day and night improvement over stock TRD/Bilstein. I had the rear TSB performed and the front is slightly (and I mean slightly...) higher than the rear. I didn't install spacers in the front either. Tires are 265/70/17 Hankook ATM. No rubbing and I am very pleased with it! I'm waiting to install Fox piggyback shocks in the rear that I bought from another TW member few weeks ago.

I spoke with some of the gentleman from Toytec the other week and they stated that the ride is bouncy with 5100's (set at Zer0) and the 885's. Did you encounter any of that?
