Wanna see some 3rd Gens on 5100s with 885 coils.....

I just installed some 3rd Gen 5100s all around. I have a 1" block in the rear and the fronts are on factory coils and set at the 1.55" lift notch. Love the stance and look but t rides like crap, just way too stiff. I got my 5100s from Headstrong and according to their chart the 885s should give me 1.75" lift in the front, which is just the range I want. BUT I want the ride closer to stock than what I have now. If I add the 885s and drop the fronts down to the lowest setting, will that get me what I want???

 

That would give you a much better ride. Then if you wanted a little more lift up front, you could always add in a 1/4" top plate spacer.

The 885's on a DC probably, after settling, are going to get you around 1.5"' of lift.

Find the coil that you like, 885 or 887 and install them and leave the 5100's alone.

 

Thanks for the info. I knew it would be a little firmer pre-loading the coil, but I had no idea the front would be THAT stiff at the 1.55" setting. I can't imagine it on the 2" setting. There'd be no give to it at all.

 

I did the 885/5100 and the 3 leaf progressive AAL and love the set up. I am running 275s and wouldn't change a thing!
There is a ton of info on here about this set up and it helped me with my choice.
You can't go wrong with this set up for the money and HS is great to work with!

 

Thanks for the info. Outside of simply sitting up higher, does it ride much different than stock? Can ya post a pic of your truck please?

@Technique I like your set up, are you having any issues with rubbing on the upper control arms?

Also what size tire are you running? Reason I ask is I want to try and put 285/70/16 on my truck without having to do a massive lift. I'm looking to achieve 2'' in front and level out the truck.

 

My tire size is 265/70/17 and I don’t have any rubbing on my upper control arms but I do on my mud flaps for sure when reversing and maybe up front also - this will heavily depend on your wheel. 2” lift up front with nothing done in the back will not be level. Mine is lifted 1.75” and it squats in the back a tiny bit.

Instead of 285/70/17 tires, go with 255/80/17 tires instead. No rubbing on the UCA and you can always add a spacer or more negative offset wheel to push the tire out for your "stance".

How much front lift did you gain with the 885s? Truck looks sick

 

OME shocks and 885 coils with a 1/4" top plate spacer. Progressive add a leaf out back 275/70r17 tire size.

 

Why would you put 885's and then 1/4" top spacers? Why wouldn't you put go with 887's and eliminate the spacer?

Soooooooooooo.... I know this subject about Billys has been beat to death, but I have a special circumstance. Right now my current set up is 3" Rough Country block suspension (3" in the front, 1" in the rear with rough country struts in the back replacing the OME ones), I love to the look of it right now after everything settled, I wouldnt mind it being a tad bit taller tho... Any suggestions? Can I use 5100's with the Rough Country lift? Sorry if I sound dumb, suspension really warps my mind... Kinda like taxes
