I need those for sure. When I’m on the highway I keep seeing my shit just sway back and forth

It definitely makes a difference! I was skeptical until I put them on. My tailgate closer more solid, they help with the sway on the interstate and I’ve got more tie down spots.

Edit: ^^^^ well maybe it does! I've never experienced this.

 I don't think that has anything to do with the stiffeners. What's swaying? Your RTT?

Yessir, that's where I put @steele-taco's as he had his antenna wires already ran to that location.

With having a truck that already had bowed out once I installed mine with a slight modification they really did well at pulling the bedsides in. I would recc. ones like total chaos that use the factory upper bolt as well as drilling the other holes.

I'm just skeptical at how useful they actually are. Here's a pic that @Bocsy44 shared after his wheeling trip. This was a truck that had a cap, RTT and the total chaos stiffeners installed. It still spread like a mofo.

Huh I haven't had that happen to mine after wheeling. It appears there is other issues as well with the taillight being all out of wack too. I slotted the holes in my total chaos stiffeners that bolt to the floor so that they moved closer to centerline of the bed hence pulling the bedsides in more. I also ditched the small washers they supplied for the drilled holes in exchange for fender washers.

Edit: I was skeptical of them as well and do not think they are a permanent fix but a decent band-aide for a poor design and not enough bracing for the bed to begin with.

That's the crazy part, is that the taillight is exactly where it's supposed to be  I'm trying to find the guys thread with more pics, but I can't find it. Erik can chime in with a link later. The outer bedside was separating from the bed itself.

Edit: Found the thread. About halfway down in the first post is all the pics

Mine was just real shaky with the tent up top when on the interstate. Doesn’t feel beat as shaky when I was on the way home and seems like it is more stable from cross wind gusts too. May just be in my head but it feels different. Lol

He may have had some prior damage or something that just got worse. I looked my bed over really well looking for cracks and separation or tearing from the composite part before I put the stiffeners on.

I edited my last post with a link to his thread. It didn't look like there was anything previously wrong.

Didn't see good pics of where the cracks and breakage happen. If you open the tailgate in the bottom outside corner is where cracking happens. Also at the frond and where it attaches to the composite bed it can come loose. But it looks like he was carrying a lot of weights and wheeling it pretty hard with that weight on it. To tell you the truth even trucks with solid metal beds if they are used hard for construction or have a lot of weight on a ladder rack tend to have issues as well. The tacoma is just inherently worse off because of not enough strength.

Yeah, his is cool but also $2k more than this one. And this one would be white! Never going to happen, but a boy can dream.

Ah, got it. My cab likes to bounce around off road, and I really started to notice it once I put a cap on. It looks like the bed is moving, but really it's staying put and my cab is moving on the rubber mounts. It was pretty trippy at first.

Found a REALLY good site for looking up part numbers. I inputted my VIN and it pulls up what appears to be dealer diagrams. It's a bit tricky to navigate at first though, but is how I found the p/n for the bolts for the steering shaft.

@Subway4X4 I went ahead and ordered the parts. If you're wanting to replace yours, then you should only need the intermediate shaft as well as one bolt. I'm going to go ahead and replace the yoke and those two bolts as well because my yoke was messed up during R&P install. I sent Gunny a PM and he just directed me to order from their website, so he may not be doing deals anymore. It cost me $221 shipped for the parts.
