Your unique mod on the 1st Gens

This was @Mobtown Offroad first skid for a first Gen, but obviously made to fit with my ARB.

 

I wanna know the lift and tire size on this bad boy

I installed my new OME rear springs today, and realized the shocks I was planning on using were not going to work....so, in order to have shocks on my truck today I scoured the the Monroe catalog in search of something that would work in the short term...

FYI, Monroe PN 31131 will fit the rear of a first gen tacoma with 2-3" lift. Yes, they're cheap dogsh*t shocks but they fit for the most part. The worst bit was the undersized ID on the bushings (11/16th's instead of 3/4 or 19mm). I was able to grease em up and reef them onto the stock mounts though. One of the three O'Reilly's in town had two of them for $27.99 a pop. DONE!

Any chance you've done a write up on the steering wheel controls wiring? I've got all the controls, the steering wheel harness and clock spring and figured out which are the tx+ and tx- wires. Wired it up to the toy-lex adapter and pioneer radio and they are not talking for some reason. Maybe I need the harness between the clock spring and the factory radio? Would appreciate any help. (this is Dave again... sorry to nag but really stuck here.)

What brand of wheel control interface are you rumning? Does it plug into back of stereo with a tiny head phone jack?

Yes it has the mini jack... it is the Metra aswc-toy-lex. It's supposed to work with 99-03 sienna.

Hey, Skeletoy, I'm in the same boat. The Bilstein F4-BE5-D559/560-TO's that came with my new OME CS019R springs aren't long enough by a good inch, before accounting for any drop. Right now I put the old Skyjackers back on. I sent pics but the vendor hasn't got back to me on why I'm so special. I think I've got all stock shock mount locations. Does this sound like your situation?

 

I guess so. I didn't want to spend the $$ on the matching OME Nitrochargers for my taco's rear, so I scoured a Monroe catalog looking for shocks that were as close as possible in compressed and extended length, with bushings that were also close. The PN I give in my post above is the closest I could come up with (I think the application was 70's/80's/early 90's dodge fullsize 4x4 truck front shocks). The bushings were a little tough to jam on the stock mounts since they're 11/16ths ID instead of 3/4".

They ride good enough for me. My opinion has always been to spend money on springs instead of shocks...i figure good $$ springs will ride well regardless of what shocks are on them. Really $$ shocks won't make up for cheap, stiff, low quality springs.

 

did this a week or so ago, but I swapped out my 97s 60/40 hard as a rock bench seat setup for a 2002 bucket seat setup, even scored a center console with real cupholders!
