2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

A modification / change to your truck in itself never voids the warranty UNLESS the dealer can prove the change was the cause of a failure. If you blew a head gasket and they were able to find out you were tuned (thus far pretty hard to do), yeah they could void your warranty in theory.

It's a drivability tune that happens to add HP/TQ but from the hundreds of folks tuned, no one has had any kind of failure related to the tune.

Anytime you make aftermarket modifications - lifts, intakes, exhaust, suspension, etc., you run the risk of invalidating your warranty if you have a failure down the road that could be attributed to those items.... I know a tune is "different" but principles are the same.

 

Asking questions goes a long way as well.

Soooooooo...are you buying the tune or not?

You won't regret it and it will not void your warranty, just like installing the 5100's wont void your warranty.

 

I have a 9 month old kid and in the process of buying an engagement ring and proposing. I just recently bought my $36k first brand new vehicle. The last thing I need right now is to spend $800 on something and then void my $2k extended warranty. THAT is why I ask about warranty and insist on seeing some proof of it not being voided.

my truck is just past the 2k mark and the "learning transmission" is starting to get annoying. Feels like im towing a trailer ALWAYS. Very sluggish and seems like the assisted braking system is "assisting" way too much. On the fence about purchasing the tune.

 

You need the tune. It will fix your issue.

In the meantime, let me save you some money...

You already have a kid with her, you are attached to that woman for the next 17 years and 3 months. Save the legal hassle of marriage and just live together like you're married that way when shit goes south you don't get fucked. Trust me, 17 years of marriage and an $83k divorce bill is not something you want. Ask me how I know...

Save the money on the ring, proposal, and wedding and buy the tune. You'll enjoy it more.

Thanks for the relationship advice haha marriage isn't for eveyone, but when she's worth it, everything else comes second. Another reason i'm concerned about my transmission is for safety of my family. Do you know if these transmission "issues" everyone is having with the crappy tranny in our trucks ever pose a safety threat? Let's say transmission fluids are low, what happens when you run them at too low of a level? What about not getting the tune up and just living with the gear shifting war zone between the transmission and itself, will that wear it out and cause something to break?

 

Give it a couple of years...they all change once that paper is signed.

Unfortunately I'm automatic. Went from driving a 5 speed v6 truck before this. I was told that if i'm spending $35k+ that she better be able to drive it too, so I offered to teach her how to drive stick.......guess who won?! lol

Do the manuals have this issue? I would think not... because they control the transmission.

 

I gave my ex the house, the boat, and a massive alimony lump sum. Walked away with my truck and freedom to smash my way through 3 counties.

 

You're in the manual transmission thread. We don't have the issues the AT guys are having, but the tune has resolved their problems like it has ours.
