For what it's worth. Mine is getting a wrap as soon as the taco is out of storage.

That thread is in the 3rd gen forum, and wasn't intended be a thread for people to talk about there setups etc... I created this one in what I thought a more appropriate section being that the habitat is made for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen so we can all share ideas, and pictures etc.. hence the title of this thread.

That may be the case, but it has a decent amount of knowledge because it ended up as a BS thread. It's not uncommon to combine or move threads when they're related or if the topic of discussion becomes more generalized, especially as a BS thread so people don't have to search around.

Couple recent pictures, not camping but I had tent up while installing interior L track... Speaking of that the rivet nut setter I posted earlier in the thread ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073VK3B7S ) is amazing. Literally takes seconds to set each rivnut.DSC_1889.jpg

    DSC_1894.jpg

And here is a teaser of the On board water I have been working on. Will do some more sanding and paint in rustoleum textured black...It will be hung on the passenger exterior wall using Ltrack. Hopefully it will pick up quite a bit of solar heat when in sunlight. Im also working on developing some sort of heat exchanger to run on my coleman.

In short, I hardmounted a Viair 450 in engine bay, ran a line to the rear bumper with quick connect, that will pressurize the tank, It can also be used as gravity feed. I have a 20psi shutoff switch installed now, we will see how I like the pressure with that. Im terrible at math but Im pretty sure capacity should be at ~7 gallons which is great for us.

Im also trying to figure out how I can utilize the space between the pipes for mounting the coil air hose and coil water hose. Any ideas?

Ill try and do a more in depth write up when I get it all up and running.

That’ll be the next step if this doesn’t work. Can’t check for leaks now because the temps dropped below freezing again.

Wish I had money for a habitat. It looks right at home in bare aluminum on the silver taco. I'm currently looking at the Autohome Columbus Variant hard shell rtt. I think it will be perfect for the amount of camping I do now, but will seriously look at the habitat down the road.

This is a really valid point. One other thing to consider is that you can still actually wheel your tacoma habitat setup where I'd think even a 4x4 sprinter is much more limited in this regard. Not quite at Sprinter level $$ in to my Habitat build yet but (God forbid) if I get there I still think I made the right choice. Granted I don't have a family to take on every trip I go on.

Yeah I definitely agree, we can go a lot further with a Tacoma/Habitat vs a 4x4 sprinter. Perhaps a better comparison: if you’re going to dish out some $$ and lose the use of your truck bed, why not get a 4wheel pop up camper? At least with a 4wheel camper you can take it off easier than removing the habitat and the entire goose build out.

Can’t deny the goose gear build out is sexy as hell though

I honestly would go for 70 series troop w/ a pop up. That would be the best setup since it's a lot more integrated and there are zero issues with dust intrusion.

Given time and money and some space, I want to cut down an 80 series and mount a new Cummins Repower, a 70s series Cab, and also a Alu-Cab top. That would be so extra.

    https://cumminsengines.com/repower-adventure

^^^ their red 70 series is on an 80 series frame.

Yeah agreed there. I've been in the Goose Gear habitat (I bought my Habitat through Goose Gear) and it is fkn awesome I must say.

When the taco dies, I am grafting my habitat to the top of a defender 110 td5. They'll be legal here by that time.

And forget the sprinter. I want a van like my buddy has.

There's nothing you can't do for 20k and elbow grease.

The lift kit isn't anything special, just spacers and enough space to fit the new tires. The interior is all MDF or Fiberglass.

I think if someone wanted to make a lot of money, they'd build a kit make a Revel and then sell it to DIY guys. For a lot of us who were able to pay for our trucks probably would be able to handle the monthly payments on a new truck as well as finance the upgrades for not that much more.

@Paris0514 pmd me asking for some better pictures of how I trimmed the Prinsu roof rack to fit under the overhang.

    DSC_1890.jpg

    DSC_1891.jpg

Hard to get a good angle at it so you can see how I cut it exactly but here is a couple more shots... Also I touched the edges up with rustoleum textured black and it is an exact match for the textured powdercoat finish of the prinsu. Alternatively you could just cut the rack completely off fter the second mounting lug and not have it extend under the habitat at all. Also keep in mind the clearances will probably be different 1st gen vs 2nd gen vs 3rd gen.

So did you have to mount the rack before installing your Habitat? Or is it not attached under the overhang? Seems like it would be easier to just cut off the rack under the overhang. I'd do that if I already had a prinsu or got a great deal on a used one, but new they sell a rack already sized for the Habitat.

I removed the rack when I drove down to Prescott. That way I was able to have the habitat installed and make the proper adjustments to the rack in my driveway. There are two bolts under the overhang but they are both easily accessible and the prinsu slides in and out easily...

I considered the rack that was sized for that habitat but if I recall it was more expensive than a full length prinsu, so I figured there was no point. That and I would find it hard to beat the modularity of the Prinsu in any case.

I was told the Habitat rack was the same price as the ext cab rack, but that was a while ago.
