Yeah, I have to drill in mine. If it was a DC, i'd be rocking this thing already. I've never dropped a headliner before in these trucks so I am more so worried that the entire process will be too long to get done in a weekend with a newbie like me.

The 2nd gen headliner isn't too bad... it helps to remove one of the seats to worm it out of the truck if you're trying to take it all the way out. I don't think you'll have to completely remove it though. The trim pieces that hold it in place all come out fairly easily. I can't imagine it's much different for the 3rd gens.

Anyone pulled their center console to put in additional outlets off the inverter?

That's good to hear. I am thinking about doing one side at a time. I don't need a ton of room. It is really just to get a visual and keep an eye on the airbag/wiring by the back of the cab. I am thinking dropping one side of the headliner, doing the rivet nuts, putting headliner back in, then repeating on the other side. Not sure if it will be worth the trouble doing that or if just taking it out altogether would be easier.

You might want to consider using dynamat or something similar on the roof to kill wind noise, since you'll be pulling the headliner anyway. That's what I'm doing.

Thats my next big project my self, there was a considerable increase in wind noise on mine and I dont really thing the little rubber gasket you can buy will help that much.

Definitely add sound deadening if you have the opportunity. It also helps insulate the cab from the Texas sun... cools down inside faster during the summer and warms up faster during the winter.

Super simple to do, couple bolts and a couple screws and it lifts out, I still have a 12v USB outlet that I need to install in the center console as well for the rear of the vehicle.

Yes, this, def helps to dynamat the roof while you have the headliner down.

Can also get some of these to put on the first couple cross bars.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZVOZYC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought 6, and put them all on the cross bar that holds the fairing (4), and on the crossbar right after that.

They are longer than the crossbars, so just cut them with a hack saw. Pretty simple.

I read that advice from a lot of people in the Prinsu BS thread too. Sounds like just another time consuming step, but I agree that it should all be done at once... I may need to take a vacation day off work now!

What sound dampener are you guys going with?

Anyone have any suggestions on protecting the raw aluminum on my rack without clear coating it???

I did this, and @ETXTacoma used the same stuff but his work is a lot cleaner than mine lol so you may want to check out his thread.

I used http://www.raamaudio.com/ I just got a kit from them and it had the sound deadening material and the enosolite foam as well.

Which part is still raw aluminum on yours?

See here for how I did the headliner. I has two layers of sound deadening on it, and then the ensolite foam over that, which is not pictured.

Oh... ummm my cross bars are still raw and have not had any issues really. Not sure on the sides and such... Could do a clear powder coat on it?

Yes... all of the work. It sucked, but was worth it.

It was a beating during the middle of the summer too... do it now before it's hot!

You have no idea... I will help someone do theres... but would need to be compensated with beer and food...

I had to essentially remove all of the interior trim pieces, front seats, fold the rear seats down, and was really close to removing the center console as well...

I put a small fan in the truck when I was doing it. And it still sucked.

But am glad it is done. I would like to however remove the carpet from the truck someday and put in some Mass Loaded Vinyl under the carpet to help with road noise, but that stuff is not cheap.
