I dig it, but then you lose the access for the embedded key? I get most people don't care, but I do lock my tailgate and its nice to be able to unlock it.

2016 uses a separate key for the tailgate. 2017 and newer uses the same key as the door in your keyfob.

I don't lock my tailgate, and I have spare keys in my desk at work, at home, and in my console. I still have my spare keyfob also if needed.
How do you plan on carrying this? Just in the pocket separate from your other keys?

I'll probably add a loop to attach a key ring, just for fundamental purposes.

I personally never have my fobs attached to any other keys. I'm not a janitor.....lol.

I rarely carry around or need my keys most days, so they usually stay in the kitchen drawer....who wants to carry around a bunch of keys anyways? :locked:

A little more tweaking...progress. Almost ready for a test print.

Thickened cap some without making the entire assembly any bigger. I'm going to make changes to the overall design as I'm waiting for the first prototype. Primarily want to make sure the holes for the buttons are in the right position so I'm not making any more prints until I get my hands on it. I'm going to make 3 or 4 versions of the cap but the housing probably won't change much at all in the mean time.

I have a 2017 and my tailgate lock uses the big separate key.

I don't carry a lot of keys, 3 maybe, so I'd like to see one with a sturdy loop for a key ring. I really like your design.

I can use the big separate key or the internal. They suggest the big key since it is stronger I think.

For the 2016, the key is totally different so we got no choice but to use the big key.
