Pardon the dumb question, but what's it for anyway?

No such thing as a dumb question! It helps to push wind around the truck, and without it wind goes under. Wind traveling under the truck causes more drag due to turbulence and therefore lowers the miles per gallon buy about 1 or 2. The wind turbulence also causes more noise.

If you drive your truck at high speeds all the time it might matter more. It's negligible otherwise.

Thanks. 1/3 of my daily drive in on the freeway, another 1/3 is on back roads at 45+ mph, so I might keep it on when I eventually get my Taco.

Yea, try it both ways. It's easy to remove with a cordless drill driver tool. I prefer it off even if it does eat 1 mpg. Some guys put them back on for long drives.

Some guys rip them off while off roading so if you plan to do that you might want to remove it and put it back after.

I’m still researching and trying to decide what I want to do for a lift. Can I ask, is there a reason you went with an all Icon set up and then went with Fox shocks for the rear instead of the Icons?

Do you have a link on the mount. I got a CB and antenna for Christmas, and I’m still trying to figure out how I want to mount everything. My biggest conundrum is the antenna (I got a Wilson 1000 magnet mount, and I’m not sure having an antenna 11’ in the air is going to be conducive to my driving habits).

The resale value of the 2nd gens was one of the things that brought me to the the 3rd gen. I t really wasn’t that much more to just go to the dealership and pick out the one I wanted. It will be interesting to see what happens. It will also be interesting to see what the revival of the Ranger will do to the Taco’s resale value. Although, so far I’m not sure that its going to matter because I don’t know that anyone else will ever own my 2017.

No real reason for going with Fox in the back. I didn't mind mixing brands (Icon/Fox). Also, like the look of the reservoirs attached to the shock body instead of the frame.

Audio system update - Haven't had much time to work on this over the last 5 weeks. It's been a very time-consuming project. Decided to go in a little bit of a different direction and used vinyl on the face of the boxes vs. painting them. Much cheaper and quicker and the result is the same. Still have lots of wiring to hook up and other small details to complete (LED back lite Toyota symbol, etc.).

Anyone have Bilstein 6112s set at 1” or 1.5” lift? If so did you measure your lift before and after?

    They are Bushwackers.
    Bought them on Amazon.
You will have to remove the factory flares.

Yes sir. Had the same issue!
I stood and pushed on the gas door from the back while I had a buddy use a cordless drill.
    It came right out.
You will want to use an oversized Philips head.
