Thanks. Placed my order late last night. 800 mile road trip the last week of April so I hope I’m all set by then.

If I order this tune, does my shift sense pro become redundant? It does help with the shifting on the freeway. Might be nice to free up the connector for the OBD port for an aftermarket display.

Yes, redundant. Once you have the tune, the shift sense is unnecessary

    Re: throttle tip in...

I flashed the tune yesterday and drove it around. Being that I expected a spritely reaction, I was able to smoothly accelerate off the line. I can definitely see where it may be an issue for some.

Case in point, my wife. I had her drive it, without telling her about the sensitive tip in. She’s a GREAT driver; I’d let her drive anything I own. However, she commented on several occasions about how sensitive the pedal was. I definitely felt it. The dogs in the back seat felt it.

That being said, I can live with it, because I know how to negate it, but it’s there.

exactly... I was expecting my brother's 07 Tundra throttle... that f'n thing, couldn't go over rail road tracks without breaking traction because the bump would cause me to blip the throttle...

Any thoughts or possibilities of having the ability to change the tune on the fly in the future? I love the idea of the tune, but I'd like to be able to pick and choose when to run it.
One of the few things I miss about my old diesel pickup with an Edge programmer on it.

Not likely in the near-future - at least not "on the fly" b/c these ECUs are so complex it takes some doing to write to them and then there is a learning period for idle, ignition, fuel trims so when you first "flash it" you aren't really fully enjoying the benefits of a new flash until you drive it for a bit and it relearns those elements. Sure, you can keep a small laptop or tablet in the truck, pull over, and flash it in <10 mins to whatever you want but not an "easy button" as would be desired I'm sure ;)

I’m about ready to finally do this. I’ve only heard good feedback on it. Has anyone had any problems? What about the transmission relearning bad habits?

He nailed it this time - shifting didn’t change noticeably for 1200 or so miles for me... buttery crisp and predictable without the dance

You get files for both the 87 and 91/93 tune and any future updates released.
There is only ONE version of each octane tune - the A, B, C was for a prior release and the current 1.03 release has incredible shifting!
Yes, if you had the TSB done for your transmission you are "03" calibration and you will have access to all stock calibration files that you can flash back to at any time.

What do you mean by this: "if you had the TSB done for your transmission you are "03" calibration"? The TSB from Toyota for gear hunting?

Yes. Trucks that were shipped out pre-update ended in like 04B02 and when flashed went to 04B03 and any 17s sold after that had the 03 calibration. Not aware of any updates done to the '18s nor calibration IDs thoug.

My ECU ends with 304B0300 and the TCU ends with 50401300 . Is this the 04B03 ? and they both can be reverted ? Sorry to be so critical but i want to be sure

Yes - that's the one. You will be able to flash back any time for any reason as Mat already has those files accessible within the flash manager tool you'll get access to as part of the tune. You'll love it

That said. I have been tuned on many versions since Aug 17' and haven't flashed back to stock since and have had my truck in for routine services 3 times since then and even had emissions testing done (mandatory annual regardless of vehicle year in Nashville) on the 91 tune...

Without me searching back through the thread, has anyone else seen surging with the auto tune? I’ve had it twice in the past two days. Once, with a warm engine, when reversing out of a parking space and turning the wheel full left. This morning, pulling out of my driveway with a cold engine (ambient temp right around 34, overnight low of 28), I was creeping up behind a stopped school bus. Doing about 2-3 mph, I was BARELY applying throttle, and it would surge from 700-1200 rpm. I caught a video of it after I stopped and started again, but it wasn’t nearly as noticeable.

Also, I can’t back up my driveway worth crap now. It was bad pre-tune, but now it’s a jerky start/stop mess. I have to take it slow, as I have to make a turning maneuver in reverse to park next to my wife’s car. My driveway is a very slight incline; maybe 25-30 feet long and a rise of about 5 feet.

The only surging I've been seeing the past week is at idle, as if I'm pressing on and off
on the gas slightly - it goes from about 800rpms - 1200 repeatedly.
