Can you update us with Toyota's final solution to the wrong location on the Nav? I have had that happen about 3 separate times over the past several months.

Yup, sometimes phones even have reverb echo coming back...thier noise cancellation is hit or miss based on phone and which iOS you’re on...so wired. Bluetooth is Bluetooth, they need to get thier shit together. Apple too if it’s thier fault. Lots of 4Runner and Highlander people complaining about this too and Toyota and Apple are just blaming each other and passing unhappy people back n forth. Also how often are roads being created. Solution, phone vent cradle and Waze.

It won't be free and there's no guarantee the latest map update will solve the problem.

They told me it would be free of charge I also have the platinum warranty coverage so I have no idea if that may be the reason

Every 5 years $200? Sure. But even the oldest 3rd gens are only 3 years old, there will be another update in a year or two, might as well wait.

Just one of the reasons why I'm going with the Kenwood DMX-905S when it comes out. It will be $650 street price, but with android auto, I won't have to worry about updates. It will be wireless android also. I'll just throw the phone down on the Qi charger and be set.

Kenwood also makes a version with Garmin nav, but it's $950.

I also used AA on a rental recently and loved it. Entune nav has led me to residential areas when I'm looking for certain restaurants and shops. Google maps has always been spot on for me.

The ONE thing I do like about Entune that's better than android auto is the weather map.

Ewwww- I see an invisible hood project mod in my truck’s future. That would be awesome for off-roading over obstacles and cresting hills! Thanks for the refrrence! starting a new post about it right now.

Does this allow you to play movies while driving? Cause our units accept dvds but while parked only, does this bypass it? And would I need the harness for the rear camera to maintain connections or is that version for people looking to ADD a camera input? You’ve got my attention...

Thanks for the reminder of why I'll continue to try and avoid vehicles with OE nav. Along with smart keys. Someday that may be impossible I guess, but for now.............

My Garmin and regular ole key work just great.

BTW, for those wanting bigger screens, I have used DeLorme with a laptop in the past. Worked awesome.

At this point I'm ready to pull the trigger. Entune's lousy voice guidance has led me astray more times than I can accept.

If the dealer offered a free map upgrade I would grab it right away before they change their mind, you would be the first one I've heard of that got it for free.

It is for a Tacoma apparently! They might get it whenever the Tacomas get a mid life-cycle update tho. Currently the Camery's and other 2019 Toyota's that have Entune 3.0 will be getting Apple CarPlay...but not support for us using the current Entune 2.0.

Yes, with the Mestro iDatalink, which is another $100. You keep all functionality except the navigation turn directions in the instrument cluster. You will also need to install the microphone for the new head unit somewhere. Most people just put it in the factory mic location.

You can also display your tire PSI info and other temperatures and pressures (like transmission temp) on the new head unit, as well as a front camera, and other features.

This thread shows some images on an older tacoma.
