Just some tips from a guy who has now bled his brakes 4 times in the last month after working on them each time,
    1) what @EatSleepTacos said about line wrenches is the TRUTH. Go to AutoZone and get a $20 set of line wrenches because they will save your brake lines just like he said.
    2) Russell Speed Bleeders honestly make bleeding your brakes a no brainer if you're gonna do it more than once (and brake fluid is only rated to last 2 years so you probably should), you just crack the bleeder one time and pump the pedal until your buddy doesn't see any more bubbles coming through and then reseal and move on
    3) I didn't see anybody mention starting furthest from the MC and working towards it IE rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver bleed order
    4) I have a full write up on installing a Sequoia MC in my Big Ole' Brake Upgrade Thread as well as info about upgrading to 6 piston front calipers and doing a disc conversion in the rear

Just an FYI, but the TRD performance pads do produce more brake dust than the stock pads. It's nothing too crazy.

I'm having good luck with the pads and rotors as shown in this post.

I checked online on the Russell Performance website and they list their speed bleeders as 95-04 only. Which ones do you use?

Any reason not to grab one of these? I know HF is crap, but $33 with a 20% coupon, hell I think I'll try it.

I used the SB1010s Bleeders all around, but I have 4runner rear disc brakes and Stoptech ST60s up front so fitment is likely different than a stock Tacoma. If the threads are M10x1.0 then the 1010s will work regardless, it does NOT have to seat in order to seal thanks to Russel's thread sealant (meaning the speed bleeder can/probably will be longer than the original Bleeders are but they will seal regardless)

I bought a toy hauler back in December and have taken it out twice now. I noticed the first time I went out camping, on my way back home I was coming down a steep hill and my brakes started to fade and over heat. So since then I have been wanting to upgrade my brakes for towing. The trailer weighs about 5k lbs fully loaded so I was wondering what you would recommend for an upgrade? Will this set up you have be good for my application? Or would more research need to be done?

Are you directing this at me/my last post? I can attest to the great stopping power while towing with my setup, it was definitely much easier to control the added weight of my 850 and a uhaul car dolly trailer! If you are PM me about it, I can get you part numbers and prices

I only tow light utility trailers, so I cannot comment specifically on heavier towing.

However, these rotors are going to be about the best stock size rotors you'll find with greater internal cooling area and greater mass than stock, both of which directly contribute to fighting brake fade. You could go with a more aggressive semi-metallic pad for more resistance to fade with a wider operating temperature range, with the drawback of increased rotor wear and noise. To do better you are going to need to step up to a big brake kit.

But if you have faded your brakes your brake fluid is compromised and should be flushed or they are going to more readily fade in the future. If you haven't flushed your system since new, you are already double the recommended 2yr/30k interval.

I just ordered a set of rotors. I just found out that my breaks are done. I was waiting for a light to come on, but since the breaks have been making a grinding noise I decided to check and no pads left. Hopefully I don’t mess them up during the break in.

Tacos have no electronic brake wear indicator, in other words no light is going to come on, on your dash.

Done. Thank you for the info. Now I have to figure it out on how I’ll set the pads. 60mph to 5mph 10 timess in a row?? Not sure that I have a road close by where I can do this.
    Any suggestions?

I tried for early morning Sunday highway, but still no luck. Ended up having to do the alternative break in procedure.

Find one good stretch and go back and forth. I did it behind the HS down the road from me on a Sunday am.

I think that it works If you do it back to back to keep the heat on the discs. That’s why it says 10 times.
    Can these disc get resurfaced?

Yeah the brakes have to get hot enough to melt some of the pad surface evenly all around the disc. And yeah they can be resurfaced once

Planning on replacing my rotors & pads here soon - I had planned on OEM rotors and pads, but this post is making me consider going a different route. Would these rotors work with the OEM (non-TRD performance) pads just fine? I can't remember where I read it but I thought the TRD were noisier? Looks like price is basically the same for either the non-TRD or the TRD pads.

Also, is there anything special I need to do if I switch to the stainless brake lines? It sounds like Crown Performance or the guy posted above may be the way to go? I plan on having everything done by a shop.

Looking to replace my brake rotors and pads so this seemed like a really good post. Have been using TRD pads for my 2009 dcsb for 2 cycles now and like them, my question is how did/is this pad rotor combo working for you to date?
