Started the demo on the kitchen today. Took off bead board and some ugly ass 1980s wall paper underneath. Debating on just taking it down to studs or skim coating it and painting. CF02FC3C-561C-4B66-A434-811D448D1A41.jpgDC798DF3-9F90-4E17-B2AB-9148DB6D55A7.jpg

Did you remove the wheels from the truck to dip, or did you plastic behind the wheel while mounted...or maybe the easier question. What was your process? these came out good.

Thanks. I am really happy with the results. Here is what I did:

    1. Taped the lug nuts with blue painters tape
    2. Put paper/plastic behind the wheel
    3. Warm the cans in very hot tap water before/during use. This will make it spray more evenly and give you a smoother finish. I think this is the most important step to ensure you get a smooth finish.
    4. Get a spray can tool, helps control the can and is much more ergonomic
    5. Use lots of coats
    6. Cover the fender areas with something to limit overspray. I can't see it, but I can feel it there. It will clean off easy I'm sure, but it is an extra step
    7. I would tape the tire approximately .5-.75 inches from the rim. The thick overspray close to the rim is very easy to peel off. But as it gets thinner, it is a little more difficult to remove from the rubber.

Dropped the nerf bars and finally got the sliders installed. Opted for weld-on 4x Innovations. Between measuring and welding the legs and mounting plates, then prepping and painting, then welding to the truck, the process took about a week. Not the best pics, but good enough.

I used a hole saw to cut a 6 inch hole in my front splash shield and used some scrap pieces of thin sheet steel and aluminum strip bent by hand to make an access port for oil filter changes, requiring the removal of only one bolt instead of four bolts and the shield.
It’s sturdy even without utilizing the one bolt for securing the door.

I might purchase proper skid plates before the next oil change. If not, this will do for now.AB240EB6-27A6-4503-885A-CC395D9C36E5.jpg CFFBCD05-341C-40BC-A948-375FEE8F6624.jpg E4A7838B-64D2-4DEA-AFD5-BADD3D3A53FE.jpg 5929E344-9CE3-4F8E-8B47-5A4B990E1EBB.jpg

Thanks! I did the bumper and liked the results but was less worried of the look as it will eventually get replaced. But the rims I like and want to get right on the first go. I also want to paint the center cap tan to match the truck and do something different. But don’t copy me, we’re both in SoMD haha

Was browsing around today and saw that mobil1 has their $17 rebate active again. That reminded me of something else I needed. Ended up ordering the Toyota aluminum oil filter housing and a Bulletproof Fab front recovery hook to replace the wimpy stock Sport recovery. Also picked up a 3 ton 5/8" shackle to use until I trim the Pro skid to clear the 3/4" shackle. Not bad for $108 total after discounts. Now to find out who has that mobil1 oil on sale. Rebate good through May 31 but might as well stock up for the next oil change around Thanksgiving (if I can put on another 6k miles and get to 24k miles by then). That should give me time to pick up a Fumoto.

They're 'tribute' wheels. ;) Check out FN Wheels too. They don't list them on the site but owner seems like a good guy.

Today I got inspired with a free Serpa holster. The Glock has been out of my carry rotation for 2 years now and I’ve been looking for a reason to get rid of it/trade it in so now it’s found new life. I swear these DIY mods are far more gratifying than spending thousands on pre-done stuff.

    Glock 26 G4 9mm
    Blackhawk Serpa Holster
8-32 x 3/8” screws to mount to galvanized plate
9 washers to cant the holster
3M Extreme double-sided tape (no screws, no holes)
