    Some research from this thread HERE has yielded that some people run into issues with some fuckheads unlatching their swingouts in parking lots and when they take off, the swingout swings open at full force causing damage and parts to break.

    My truck had been sitting for about 2 months in the PNW. I went to open the tire gate and the latch/lock assembly is rusted shut. Took a dead blow hammer to it hoping that would loosen it up but that just broke the piece of place you pull the pin out with.

    Any suggestions? I have lived here for less than a year and the rust is taking over fast. If it stops raining for a week I'll strip it down and repaint but I have got to get this gate opened first.

    So far I have tried sticking a thick tent state through the small hole on back side and hitting it, hoping to force it out. I also attached vice grips to where the plastic handle would be and trying to knock it loose. Nothing.

    PB blaster next?
