OME or Bilstein 5100 or Bilstein 6112/5160

888's are great, a lot of people are happy with them. Not sure if they will sag or not over time. I can almost guarantee you if you drove a tacoma with 888's you wouldn't be able to tell a difference between a tacoma with 886's. It's going to be the same ride quality. I'd go 886 just in case you ever decide to add weight in front.

 

Does anyone know of a vendor that currently has 6112s in stock? Im on two wait list and 4WP just told me today that they wont have them for weeks. Thanks for any help!

2nd gen 6112s fits the 3rd gen.

 

With the 3rd gen OR being an inch higher than the 2nd gen wouldnt it sit lower than 6112's for 3rd gen?

 

No. You actually going to get 0-3" if you buy the 2nd gen version 6112s.

That's why the 3rd gen version is only 0-2" because of the 1" higher than 2nd gen.

If you can find a TRD PRo Bilstein tuned suspension will be great choice for only 540-$650 originally almost $1800
They are basically 6112s and 5160s with eibach coils.

 

I would suggest not to buy 2nd gen 6112 for your 3rd gen. It's bad advice IMO. It's maxes out the shock which you don't wanna do, buy it for performance not forb 3"lift.

My 2 cents. Your truck your money though.

I was very happy with bilstein 5100 ride on 2016 TRD off road

 

Why are the notch’s set at different numbers for the passenger and driver sides? Wouldn’t you want them even?

Also, could I run 5100’s on my 2018 4x4 Double cap V6?

 

The driver side is heavier with the battery and gas plus the driver. Bilstein was smart enough to offset the “Taco lean”

Your better off piecing out the suspension and save your self a couple hundred bucks.

5160 on that site is 170 each. 3leaf or 1 leaf aal go for around 150-200. And SPC or similar UCAs go for 400ish. That’s a lot of money your saving yourself.

 

I found it cheaper to piece it out as well rather than purchasing a kit. Strange I know

 

I paired 6112 with 5100 rears.

Less potential failure points down the road for a pavement pounder. No regrets.

also have my springs set like 3rd gen, one perch higher on the drivers side, on my 2nd gen. Less lean that way. No shim/spacers needed.

Truck has not exploded yet. YMMV.

 

Anyone do a self install on a 6112/5160 lift? Considering going to the DIY route, but want to make sure I am up for the task. Will also be installing an UCA and AAL for this kit. Thanks

 

Watch the OME installs on YouTube from low range offroad. The rears are stupidly easy.

Agreed, those videos are nice and very helpful and straight forward. I have watched them a couple times now and I think I can do it, specially since i'm replacing the rear leaf pack rather than do a aal.
