Hey guy, so I noticed when I engage the parking brake it will stick, until I put the truck in reverse. Once its in reverse the parking brake lets go and everything is fine. I also noticed when it is sticking if you push the brakes a bit while moving you can feel it release. Anyone know what would cause this?

Does this only happen when it's cold? I often find my shoes freeze to my drums if I have been driving in wet snow.

Its not too cold, its about 39 out. I haven't had the truck during the summer yet so I don't know if it happens then also.

I just went through this as well. It was wet melting snow here and my parking brake was dragging after i applied it. I would reverse, and it would let go. It dried up and now it's working fine again. I think it's my rear parking brake cables. Apparently they rust inside the cable.

I just replaced my rear shoes today and noticed my cable is binding in the sheath.
I gotta look and see if i can get some lube in there without taking the cable out.

My 06 was recently doing the same thing, 106k miles, had it in for other service and had the mech(not a dealer) and he told me i needed new drums, shoes, and e brake cable, 800 to 900 bucks! The bullshit meter was pegged! Said thanks and went on my way, my pullys were really making a racket(yes i changed my serpentine belt, so i brought it to a different mech, took rear drums off cleaned up the crap adjusted the shoes, took pulleys apart and greased, 240 bucks out the door, ebrake works great and that horrible squealing is gone!
