Exactly, working load limit is the operational max you use the rigging. Overhead is different but I don't know off the top of my head how you de-rate. That's why I implied we're overloading shackles with snatch straps.

SOS was really good with the pricing on my sliders. The quality was too notch and shipping to Alaska was 100$. I checked out other vendors that was the price of the sliders or more for just the shipping. Always pays to wait and do your research!

Welp. Pretty sure all of us don’t wanna end up like that Jeep lol. On a side note don’t those renegades come with those front “hooks”

What about the BPF for the sport? I haven't taken off my lower valence yet, but will soon. I assume there is a crappy OEM hook on the sport? Or is that asking too much?

There is a crappy tie down hook on the sport that you can unbolt and replace

I bought the 11,000 lb rated carabiner that another thread recommended. Haven't had to use it yet.

Ya but they're probably just for looks lol

Given that too the bumper off with it I'm going to say they're just a tow point and just mounted on the sub frame

I have the BPF tow hook and I am very impressed with it. It's a very well made piece. And priced well.

Reviving the thread here boys. After a few searches on TW on the recovery points in the front...

Obviously the driver's side TIE DOWN isn't rated for recovery. OK I get that.

The passenger's side that comes with the factory HOOK on the Off-Road IS or ISN'T a reliable recovery point?

Several people say that the hook is good enough for recovery. Others say that it is not. I have the OEM Hook on my OR but if it's not a reliable recovery point then I will "upgrade" to something else such as BPF, etc.

    Thread below.

I'm kind of in a similar boat. I was about to purchase BPF set, but decided against it because of where and how it's mounted. Even though it uses 3 bolts, they are attached to the same "sub frame" as my OR tow hook, which is not going to give it any extra strength.
I'm seriously contemplating going for broke, and getting ARB recovery point. If you're planning on any serious wheeling, maybe you should consider that as well.

If you plan on really using it and want some peace of mind go with ARB.

It's the only option that's engineered and tested.

I would do it, (technically I already did lol) as the additional cost ~$150 is fairly small for the increase in strength you get. I've only used it once so far but I'm glad that I had it, I think it has a huge advantage for angled pulls over the other options.

I bought mine from 4wheelparts, it was the best price and free shipping that I could find. I will say that I wasn't thrilled with their customer service, they charged my card immediately and it didn't ship for a week and a half, and they never sent me a shipping notification.

LOL. I had similar situation there with out of stock Bilsteins. Turns out there was supposed to be shipped out straight from manufacturer (still on backorder). I cancelled my order week and half later. Oh well.
Anyway, if not in rush and price is right, I wouldn't mind waiting a week or two.

MMM define "serious" lol I don't rock crawl as my build is going more towards overlanding. I have the tow hitch/D-ring on my rear but I always like to prepare for the worst and have something mounted up front. The only thing I can imagine me getting into in the future is some mud. I never tackle obstacles I know for sure I can't cross or if I am by myself I always take the simplest route.
