Leaf spring fitment

Heres my question, will 3” lifted 6lug springs either A. Keep the ride hight the same or B. Lift the rear end or c. Just do nothing and lower the rear end on a spring under 5lug tacoma.

With that said I understand that stock 6 lug leafs will actually lower a 5lug tacome due to they are less arched. But do 3” lifted packs have more arch to them which would make it like a 5lug pack? Or do they achieve there lift buy just stacking more leafs and keeping a oem like arch to them?

My other question is if lifted 6lug leafs dont work, then what is the length of a 5lug leaf pack so i can look into something like a 6” lifted leaf pack from a chevy, because i have seen guys run those on rock crawler hilux with a spring under setup.

I dont need comments like “just get a 6lug”. Im perfectly happy with my 5lug. I just simply dont like the aal i have on now. And i know that well designed lifted leaf packs offer the softer ride of being stock but with more travel and lift.

 

The Chevy 63" springs are a popular mod for the 6lug Tacomas. But you're completely re-doing the spring hangers, etc... anyway, you you might as well break out the cut of wheels and the welder...

Do you know any buold threads with guys running spring under set ups or know who makes a spring under kit for 1st gen tacos

 

So im thinking deaver 62” with TC 9” or 12” shakles will work, now will i need to be changing the leaf spring hangers as well?

 

I think the stock Tacoma leafs are like 54" long, so yeah, I'd assume you'll need to torch everything off and start from scratch.

 

54” on a 6lug? I wonder if its 54” on 5lugs as well

 

Don't quote me on that (wait, you already did, lol), but that's what I remember. I know that with the 6 lugs the 95-99's have shorter leafs than the 2000-2004's, I would ASSume the 5 lugs are the same.

looks like 2000-2004 5 lugs are 55" long.

Before I take you down the custom long travel spring under road, are you looking to build a desert pre-runner out if this, or what? Judging by the lengths, you may end up doing some custom hangers anyway...

There's a kit for the 6 lugs (lowrange offroad makes one) that has all the hangers to fit the chevy 63" springs on the 6 lugs, you might be able to get something like that to work.

 

Yeah I figured if there was some kind of kit that does spring under for 6lug that it will work on a 5lug. With either less modification normally needed for a 6lug or about the same

 

The chevy 63" springs aren't really for a spring under conversion, but since it's just the spring hangers and some hardware (the chevy leafs are wider than stock toyotas), you can mount them however you want.


But really, all this talk... you need to just cut the back half of the frame off, go full tube, 4 link, and coils...

I just dont got 4link money. 63” Chevy leafs seems more wallet friendly and less fab work. Im no fab master. I just know enough that i can put some stuff together
