LED headlight bulb suggestions

I've been trying to decide which led bulbs to replace my stock (sr5) ones with, and I'm hoping you guys can reccomend some. I definitely like the cool white look of LEDs compared to the halogen bulbs, and I plan to eventually replace the stock fogs too, but I don't necessarily want to increase the output of them. I don't want to decrease the output either, so the same or slightly brighter is what I'm aiming for, but I definitely don't want to distract other drivers or draw unwanted attention. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Also, I did try to find existing threads pertaining to this question. I don't know if I'm just operating the (mobile) site poorly but I couldn't find anything specifically about this, even though I'm sure there are threads on it.

I went with gtr id bulbs. They were super pricy at around $200 but honestly Ive got no complaints so far. I may cheap out on the foglights but the headlights I couldn't compromise on. Definately worth the investment

 

How is the throw from those led lights? I have tired a few different brands for about 50-80 dollars and yet bright they never throw light far down the road .

 

I've run LEDs(Morimoto 2 stroke) in the headlights and ended up going back to HIDs. The LEDs are nice and bright, good output for right in front of you but the distance was sorely lacking. I did the same thing with my GFs Pilot. Had 2 strokes in there and traded out to HIDs without telling her to see if she'd notice and the very first night she got home she asked me what I did to her lights cause she could see much further now.
Nothing really wrong with LEDs but HIDs seem to offer more

 

Recommendation: none. HID ftw.

 

Conservatively if say it shoots out at least twice as much as the stock halogens. Its alway really hard to tell with the videos and all on YT but it really does throw it out there.

HIKARI bulbs have good reviews by many in the LED thread. I have these in my fogs, lows and highs and I enjoy them. There is a new version and an old ($60~ vs $90). The new ones throw farther than the old. Customer service with them is great too. Had a bad bulb, wiring issue, and they sent me a code to order a new one on Amazon right away.

I'm happy with them.

I have the Hikari Philips LED bulbs in my low beams. Easy install. Just twist and pull out OEM bulb, insert and twist in Hikaris and you're done.

 

Yep, install is very very easy. Some people said you have to take off the top plastic/bumper part or something but I had ZERO issues getting my fat hands to the low,high and fog light locations. Just a simple twist to unlock it from the housing, then carefully pull it out. Put the new one in and turn it to lock it in place. Done.

One this to consider before you buy LEDs...is that they do not get warm enough to keep ice and snow buildup off the housing. Users on here have reported them 'freezing' over in snow storms. Depending on where you live, this could be a deal breaker. I personally haven't had any issues so far but something to keep in mind.

 

I live in Lousiana and we get about 5 freezing days a year so It probably wouldn't be as much of a problem for me

 

I have a 16 Tacoma with Morimoto HID and they are fantastic with lots of throw

 

I guess I focused on LED because I've been seeing a lot of people posting pictures of theirs and they've been looking good to me, but I'm open to HID as well. I didn't know if there was a noticeable difference in the look of the two

 

Not requiring a relay would be a plus for me, not that I couldn't manage installing one but electrical is my least comfortable area and easier is easier haha. I looked in that thread and the quality of the light looks really nice

 

do you need the decoder harness?
