LOL, it’s due to be updated in 2021, according to a post showing Toyota’s schedule of updates and releases over the next few years......don’t think it’s going anywhere soon.

Yeah that's the one I want, but it would not make any sense for op to get an access cab with such a big family

They literally just did a press event for the 2019 Pro Lineup. The 4Runner isn’t going anywhere for a while.

From purely safety standpoint, the 1500 didn’t do well in crash tests when compared to Tacoma. That was something that stood out to me when I was shopping around.

They aren't going to keep the 1GR motor for much longer and without TSS it's head is on the chopping block. What's coming next isn't going to be anything like a 4runner. Sticking a 4Runner name on it doesn't make it a 4Runner. There are rummers that because it can't meet EPA emission standards, lower sales and because they have the highlander it's going bye bye. You have to remember Toyota has developed new models on completely different platforms such as the new Camry, CHR, new Rav4, and a new Corolla is also coming. The 4Runner is a dinosaur and it's time is about to come to an end just like the Venza.

Toyota salesman told me the other day he highly doubts there will be any manual transmissions available in a couple of years.

Go f150 with 3.5 ecoboost, really good on gas. Power is unbelievable unlike 3rd generation Tacoma. I just got tired of the way you have to drive the 3rd generation run it at higher rpms or no power. I will say one thing they still have a really good resale, traded my leased Tacoma after only having it for a year and 4 months and got a 2018 f150 3.5 ecoboost. They paid it off completely and payments only went up 50.00 for a xlt sport.

Returning to the Taco fold and shopping for the next one.
My buddy is on his second RAM EcoDiesel. First one the motor grenaded at less then 10k miles. Dealer bought it back and for some reason he got another one. This one ate all its injectors in less then 5k miles. Needless to say he is dumping it as soon as the warranty runs out. I would steer clear. And this is coming from someone who has owned two Duramaxes and has put injectors and CP3 pumps in both of them. But at least that happened at north of 100k on both of them.

The value of that F150 drops like a stone on resale. Obviously you still loved your Tacoma or you still wouldn't be posting on a Tacoma forum.

Sounds like a good way to get you to buy a manual right now

I'm calling bs on this. Other than the land cruiser it has been the longest running nameplate in toyota history. There is still plenty market for a body on frame SUV. It may get smaller, think 3rd gen. But I bet it continues to run for a long time

I hope so. I hate to see manual transmissions go. But we have went full circle. 2 speed auto was the first transmission, then years later manuals came out in the model t. Now the manuals are virtually gone, and soon we wont have transmissions at all.
