My clutch lasted almost 100k but that’s with some hard off-roading and and me getting so stuck my shit was smoking. It lasted 6 months and me towing a car fully loaded from Vegas to TX. I got the truck at 60k and it already had some play in it. So I am impressed that it even lasted to 100k I hope to get 150k out this new one.

Found the reason our reverse gear is so tall. It's for situations like this...

It's gonna be my first mod. Not a fan of the boat oar stock shifter-throw. One of the shift knob options is a 9oz solid steel ball. I'll take it.

    Dafaq was that? Geez.

Was there a wrecked fuel truck up ahead? If so, cats are evil.

Maybe my birthday had something to do with it?

The clutch started slipping this week, and with only 60k miles . Looking to upgrade from OEM, anyone have any suggestions or feedback for a 2nd Gen 6spd clutch kit?

In helping you with low mileage clutch slipping, I have question.
Do you hold down the clutch pedal when you are at stop light/stop sign?

Wouldn't cause the clutch to start "slipping" early, but will cause premature throw out bearing failure indicated by grinding or squealing sound when you press the clutch pedal.

That gray car probably ignited the fuel with the hot exhaust. And the driver of the white car abandoned their vehicle instead of staying inside for protection and driving away instead.

Actually, yes it can cause the clutch to slip prematurely by weakening the pressure plate spring fingers over time. Making a habit of holding the clutch pedal to the floor through traffic lights or when sitting at a stop sign will prematurely reduce the spring pressure. As the spring fingers eventually lose their tension, they won't hold the clutch as tight between the pressure plate and the fly wheel any longer.

And you are right, the throw out bearing will take a hit and could fail early as well.

Have never seen that happen attributed to holding the clutch pedal... but I guess it could in theory. The weak pressure plate springs I have seen could always be associated with smoking the clutch over heating all the components (blue and straw colored flywheel and pressure plate). I don't do clutch work for a living but all the premature clutch failures I have seen could be attributed to either smoking the clutch or a leaking rear main seal.

You are never off topic here, friend (we could debate what qualifies as BS I guess). You're just among fellow wise, self-reliant, passionate row-it-yourselfers...shootin' tha shit.
    That's why we love it.

I wasn't meant to be harsh and apologize if it comes off that way.

I've used electrical tape and self-sealing tape in many visible spots in the past.

I just made a stretching rack for my daughters. Spent hours sanding and sealing it. The dowels are now covered with pipe foam.

I was just kidding around. I know @St.Germain ain't sweating it. Dammit, I missed this thread. I noticed something was missing in my life, but didn't realize I was dependent on the thread being sticky to visit.

And, this all started with my homemade knob. Haha!

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...rations-welcome.406844/page-386#post-17549193

I tried to make a nicer version without the lower cylinder that turned out worse. So, I made a lathe with my drill, a socket bit, and an M12x1.25 80mm bolt to cut off the cylinder and sand it properly:

    IMG_20180412_181813.jpg

Nowhere near as nice as something that you could buy, but even though it is light (<200g), it feels way better than stock.
