Hate it when people do shit like that. Spent a solid hour in freezing temps while I had a cold to do brakes on a buddy's car since they were metal to metal. Next day he sold it. And I didn't get paid to do the brakes. Nor did he disclose it to me. It was the final straw in our friendship. Told him to get fucked and lose my number.

I dont mind helping people out. But dont hide shit from me, dont play me. In hindsight, if he told me he was selling it the next day but was in a pinch and couldnt pay me, wouldn't have been a problem. But the way he went about it, I felt bent over.

And he had pulled similar stuff very recently too.

I don’t work on friends cars unless they either help, or help touch my junk.

 

You help people cause you want to. If you don’t, don’t. But never expect something in return (blowie included) unless you negotiate up front-it’s better that way.

 

Most friends at least offer to help, but when you're a professional wrench thrower, I mean wrench Turner, people who don't know what they're doing just get in the way. Occasionally I have them hold something or get me a tool, but most the time they dont even know what the tools I'm using are called

He’ll watch for a few minutes and then just dive in and then at that point I’m just the errand boy.

Although now his back is jacked so I do all the grunt and he provides the (awesome) tools and the expertise.
