hey guys new here and i had a question on the 4x4 leafs resulting in a drop on stock 5 lugs? Are they strait bolt on or require some modification? Any specific model to get them off of or is there a good aftermarket option? cause i kinda wanted to get new leafs. Thanks again!

 

They are pretty much a direct bolt-in. You have to flip the locating stud in the center since they were designed for the Axle Under design of the 4x4's, but it only takes 5 minutes to do.

Edit sorry didn’t read the rest. I believe any of them will bolt in, however I kinda recall someone saying the TRD Pro versions are a bit softer, but I’m not 100% on that.

 

Awesome, But im a little confused as far as what you mean by flipping the locating stud? And anyone know where i can get some 4x4 leafs in the phoenix area? Sorry if my questions are dumb this is my first and only vehicle so dont wanna mess anything up

 

And i've read that xiiperformance takes a bit to respond and ship out products? is this true because i was looking at the qa1 rear shocks and the stock height performance coils. how do those coils compare to x runner coils? are they that much better? Again im sorry for all the question but im a collage student on a budget and cant really afford to get this stuff wrong

 

So first about the leaf stud. It's the bolt/stud that is in the center of the leaf spring pack. It keeps the axle in place when bolted down. On 4x4s that locating stud needs to face the ground as the axle is underneath it. However our trucks are axle over, so in order to have 4x4 leafs work, you'll need to undo the stud (easy with just a wrench and vice grips) and flip it around so that the stud is facing up instead of down.

XII is pretty good about responding to calls and Facebook messages in my experience. Orders should be shipped in a reasonable amount of time, but if you are worried, give them a call and they can help you out. Definitely a friendly bunch of people there so dont be afraid to ask em.

The XII "Stock Height" performance springs are geared around the XRunner to maintain its ride height yet give it the stiffer setup still. So on our base 5-lug trucks, I recommend the standard drop springs. Since they are also designed for the XR, they dont drop our trucks as much due to the weight difference up front. If you're going with a DJM kit or similar in the future, then the "Stock Height" coils would be preferable to keep the drop from being too low. Hopefully that all makes sense.

 

Yup makes perfect sense bud thank for the help, because i was thinking of getting the djm arms, X runner bilsteins, and a stiffer coil for the front. Rear i wanted some 4x4 leafs and a 2 in block from street tacos. But as far as rear shocks how do stock x runner shocks hold up or should i just go for the qa1s. also same question as far as stock x runner coils vs xii. Thank for all the help Bowers

Does anyone have a part # for the 4x4 leafs? was looking into it and was told that there was 2 different lengths

They should be all the same, or close enough that any one will be swappable. I cant remember what I'm running (dont believe it's the TRD PRO version), and they fit just fine.

Hi everybody. I'm new here and I was looking to lower my 2014 crew cab 2wd 5-lug . In the front I was going with DJM 3" drop upper/lower calmax arms along with xii 2" drop springs/Qa1 shocks. So about 5" drop in front. I want to drop the rear to about 3" to 4" with-out notching the frame. My question is what would be the best options out there for this? Also I want to be able to tow still. I would be towing around 2,500 pnds. Will this be a problem?

no it will be fine. I would get a DJM kit if you can find one or XII. or a stock X-runner but that will only get you about a 2" drop in the rear.

 

Anybody know if there are companies out there selling 3" lowering leaf springs that are for the base Tacoma's? I would rather do this over 3" lowering blocks.

Looks like Xii is currently not offering the Eibach drop springs kits. Bummer-anyone know of another source for lowering springs for the front of the base 5-lug tacoma's?

 

The Xii drop spring kits use Eibach springs. Anybody know if they are just a off the shelf springs you can get direct from Eibach?

 

Anybody out there towing with there lowered tacoma? Curious how low it is and how it does?

 

I'm far from lowered (XII front springs and 3rd Gen leafs in the rear), but I tow my Miata. I've thought about going lower with a block and/or spindle spacer, however I'm already hitting bump stops a couple of times on rougher sections of highway when towing so I'd have to notch if I wanted to go lower and keep the utility aspect in check.

 

Wow you tow a miata. Whats the weight at about your towing? What is your drop? 3/3 ?
