Does anyone have any experience owning ARE outdoorsman side windows or something similar from leer.. I want some honest opinions on how useful they’ve been to you guys.? I’m getting second thoughts about them. I don’t know if it’s worth the money. Outdoorsman or just regular slide windows.

Vented windoors are a must have on a truck, in my humble opinion.

I regret not getting them on mine- I've just got sliders.

Windoors are a must unless you enjoy crawling inside your shell, after you’ve packed it for a trip, to reach something in the very front.

    Hello all,

I actually have a little bit of a bone to pick with ARE for some questionable craftsmanship on my cap. All and all a great cap, but for the price tag, I shouldn’t have had to fix anything.

The long and short of it is that the driver side Outdoorsman slider would not open. It had come from the factory fastened too tightly and the slider would not budge. The length of the rivets they used had actually closed the path of the slide.

I ended up drilling out the rivets, adjusting the slide channel and lubricating it thoroughly before fastening it again. Now all is right in the world.

And the answer is yes! The Outdoorsman windoors with the sliders are a must!

    Thanks,

    Salmon

I'm on my second cap now, first one was gray with sliding windows then I found a cheap black one with windoors. I could never go back to just the sliders, the windoors are so much better and easier to get to stuff. Only thing I wish is that they were vented/sliding windoors for camping inside the shell so that I could crack a window more easily.

i have a protop camper with the opening side windows. They arent windoors as they do not have a sliding window feature. I would say having an opening accessing to the side of the camper is a must for me. I would hate to have to crawl into my bed when i need to grab something that has slid to the front of the bed. I can also access my fridge from the side windows without opening the back lift hatch. If i were to choose i would have opted for at least one side with the sliding + opening window but now when I do need to vent the camper i open the cab facing sliding window.
