looks to me that the latest, 1.04A just installed today, nails it. but that's for the v6, not sure if you're in a 4cyl?

I have the V6 and do believe what you and a few other trusted folks have posted. But, OVT just hasn't built the bridge that I can trust.

I'm a communication whore, for better or worse. For $800 and the number of folks that have ponied up, there should have been a lot more 2way discussion going on, more than high-level, one line posts, and non-current, unintelligible First Posts. Just compare those to what get posted for sub-$50 mods around here.

Yeah you may get used to it somewhat but you will never be perfect. I have been driving my Tacoma for 8 years and the rev hang still gets to me on a regular basis. The tricky part is that it's not consistent so you can't learn it and then account for it because it varies quite a bit, at least in my truck.

Thing I don't like is when I drive it like my supra I sometimes too quick off the clutch when half clutching.

I hear you guys that are complaining about the communication issues with OVT. For anybody thinking that he's being shady or doesn't know what he's doing, that's completely wrong. He's one guy running a small company with hundreds of tuned 3rd gens (and multiple other platforms as well).

I've been running the latest M/T version since yesterday (1.04 91 Octane), and it's a home run IMO - far and away better than any version since dev began for M/T.

Yes, it's a lot of money.. but you're really missing out if you dislike the OEM calibration as much as I did.

Full disclosure, I could care less if anyone buys the tune or not.. just sharing my experience.

    Cheers!

I wonder if the accumulator delete would help you there? I think, but am not certain, that the line coming into the top of the accumulator on the 2008s was flexible, not the rigid line that we have. You might be able to get away with just a coupler like this:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/what-does-a-clutch-fluid-accumulator-do.180006/

    See the video.

well i value communication too, i hope that's evident. but i value a good drive way more and that's saying a lot. to be fair, the communication bridge you refer to existed much better in the Alpha days. that's when i jumped in.

i agree with this but you Frank are also an early adopter and we got a little more personal back & forth in those days. jumping in nowadays it's challenging with all the thread info.

but yes 1.04A for the MT's is looking maybe perfect. a few more days should validate that.

Nothing about it being a scam. Just that the level of communication is not there to justify the price. I know a few folks who started businesses all by themselves. They all had to bite the bullet at some point and bring on help to satisfy demand, even if it was someone just to take on the communication and accounting side.

The Taco tune certainly overwhelmed him. He had the opportunity to take a slower approach and hit it out of the park, but instead kept making unfulfilled promises with next to no communication. The saving grace was that folks had working tunes to fall back on. Just think if that one aspect hadn't happened, not to mention the semi-working tunes that were sent out during the process. That doesn't sit well with me, esp when the price would double the total cost of mods that I have in it now. The cost / benefit just doesn't pan out for me without even considering the frustration of actually dealing with the order process.

That's is just my opinion / feeling.

Yeah. I came along just before the MT thread started. There was a lot of pie in the sky promised. I got really excited that we'd get a least a tune tailored for the group. When I stopped, it felt we were just going to get a tune that finally might work without stumbles and misfires. That was quite a while back though.

Just curious if the throttle plate opening / DFCO and rev hang was ever discussed or fixed?

It is an easy mod in the tight spot. It was tough to just get measurements. I really want to try it but still need to get the line flared.

Gawd, that was painful. Not only was the searching no fun, but I stumble back into the OVT MT thread and got a fresh dose of what I'm looking to avoid. Just the crap from the past couple days.

Anyway, the other tuner is Steve Pearson of Pearsontuned:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/gearone-performance-tune.535120/page-4#post-17219982

One of these days, I will ping him to see if he works with any shops around me. Unfortunately, there isn't much on the Pearsontuned website or FB page.

I only have trouble doing this with first. It's like you have to be going so slow that's it's pointless.

Yep for sure. It definitely blew up on him fast, TBH I don't know how he does it.
I'm not sure about the A/T, but it's looking like the M/T tune is at or very close to the finish line as far as development goes. Once it reaches steady state, custom requests and issues will be dealt with through the process Matt outlined (ticket/custom tune requests). Sometimes we forget that we've been in development the whole time. Ppl don't realize how much of a pain these trucks are to tune for consistent results. What works for your truck turns out to be not so good for mine - even with identical ECU/tune file/mods/stock. I'm not talking personal preference, I'm talking obvious symptoms that cropped up like stutters and throttle weirdness. One step forward, two steps back. Well, it took a while but Mat fixed the issues so that the tune now seems to have consistency across the spectrum.. we'll know for sure in the coming days. From the outside, I can see how it looked like we were left in a lurch a few times. We were still in development though, as I said. Mat also gave us that nice power bump just a few versions ago, which had side effects for SOME trucks, including mine. There's your two steps back. Again, Mat worked through it and 1.04 is the result. I'm not making excuses for the man, just trying to shed some light on the process from a customer's standpoint.
