You do not have to be a costco member to order from coverking but i just priced them out and the front seats were 212 and the rear 249 so I'm on my way to target for some $30 generics

Does anybody that’s done this worry any about the pressure the struts put on your hood when closing it? I don’t know how strong they are and am curious if there’s any concern about ‘bending’ your hood when closing it. Sheet metal these days is pretty thin on cars.

Once, I closed the hatch on my GF’s Mitsubishi with only moderate force. Used the heels of my hands and dimpled her sheet metal. Felt really bad about it.

    Thanks

As heavy as those hoods are I doubt the struts will do any damage - I realize this is only my opinion.
That being said, I have these installed on my'17 Taco and I feel no flexing when closing the hood. It feels quite solid and stiff.

Yeah, I've seen @pdenajim Jim's setup firsthand and in my opinion the struts will support the hood, make opening it much easier but in no way provide enough resistance to cause any deformation. The inner hood frame support structure will prevent that.

Others with the struts may chime in about this and I'm sure @RedlineTuning may also help with any concerns.

I should also add that with the right amount of force applied under the heel of your hand anything is possible. You could do that with a thumb or finger too. I once dented a closed hood, right on a outward crease line applying excess pressure washing it so I know where you're coming from.

I think though you'd have to be pretty tall to get your hand far enough up into the middle of the hood to dimple it. And that's just not how I close a hood. I've always done it by applying pressure along the front edge.

    But sure, anything is possible.
