What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I got mine through a college course that was required so it wasn't horrid but killed two birds with one stone

 

hm interesting. I have not done a set of shocks like those so be curious how much hard they would be.

Wasn't trying to do that. Honest question as the only way ive done shocks is to press them up by hand.

 

I tried but after it took about 125 of my 155lbs pushing the whole thing down on flat ground, I didn't have much hope of benching that with one hand from 8in off the ground.

 

I find the stock toyota bottle jack works great for pushing up on the bottom of the shocks...

 

That's does work really well for putting on shocks that use the stock mounts. Mine protect the bottom of the shock though so you can't really do much to keep it in place from the bottom.

 

Spent most of the day pulling all of my air conditioning components, after my compressor seized while on a road trip to WV for turkey hunting season. Have turned the corner, and have the evaporator, compressor and some lines back in. Have been following a very well written thread, with excellent pictures. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-a-c-system-replacement-how-to-seized-compressor.293204/ May have been overkill to replace everything but the lines, but I'll know it is all good, hopefully for a long time to come. I can justify the expense of the parts, since I have no labor charge. Then when I want to order up a bunch of new suspension parts, and can justify those parts to my wife "Remember, I saved all that money on the A/C repair".

 

OSHA certs are fun, I have two in Mechanical Pollution Prevention and Mechanical Safety from SP/2. Also have an Automotive Informational Specialist certificate from AllData.

 

I have a whole bunch of Microsoft certs and a coupon for Wendy's. Pretty sure the Wendy's one is more useful too.

 

I wanted to get the Cisco CCNA cert a while back, just never had the time. Always wanted to get into Systems Architecture.

 

I had a bunch of smog cupons... but i tossed them after i got my smog check.

I was gonna do the whole Cisco thing but honestly they're just one company and most companies don't use just them. Plus 5k is a lot to spend to get fully certified. Rather use Ubiquiti anyway.

 

Universal technician for what? HVAC?

Figured being an EPA cert it would be for refrigerants.

 

Yeap, i can buy all the refigrent I want, even though you can buy it on Amazon or orileys with out a cert...

 

I landed an internship where they'd pay for my entire Cisco certification... and then I never heard back from them. Oh well. I love Ubiquiti, I have their residential grade AP in my house. Originally I bought this commercial Cisco AP from this hotel that was upgrading to Ruckus infrastructure, but I could never figure out the API on how to set it up. The Ubiquiti API was way simpler than it has any right being. Gotta love PoE, the Ubiquiti AP's come with an injector unlike the Cisco one, which I'm guessing they just run a PoE switch instead in a commercial environment.

 

Change out the PCV and grommet:
PCV ball bearing wasn't seating properly therefore NOT performing as a one way valve.
Grommet was hard and brittle.

Used what looks like a torturous dental pick to hook the grommet from inside the hole.
Got it out and then ended up hooking into my finger thru my glove.

 

Sounds about normal for me, too.
