Which black cover are you referring too? I really need to do this but I could never figure out how. Pictures would be worth a thousand words.

This video begins with the removal of the black bumper cover to expose the top screws. Make sure you remove the wiring harness and license plate lights first.

Is there any way to get the gauge lights to illuminate w/o the headlights coming on (keeping headlights in "auto")? Sometimes while driving around they're a little dark to read.

    HUH..???

I do not understand of which you speak.!

Are you asking how to turn on the parking lites?..... If so, I believe you will need to review the manual where it shows a plethora of variables that can be accomplished by turning the light switch...!

parking lite, vs parking light. When I see "lite" I think low calorie, not photon emitting devices

    It was a joke.

    Help!
Is there a setting to disable the auto music play when i connect iPh and select that source?
Reason for this is when i just want to listen to YouTube without the auto play blasting the first music track on the phone or I wanna listen to another song.

I feel like such a dope, picked up my new 2018 today, I got 2 fobs and 1 key, I felt like I need to have a spare key, so I ordered one, then after reading this post, I looked at my key fob and noticed it said push,I did, and to my surprise,a key pulled out! You would have thought the salesman would have known that and told me!

Regarding the Toyota Manual, page 655, (9-2 Customization) -->Illumination

Does anyone know how to turn off the automatic illumination of the interior lights when you approach the vehicle? I believe that that the automatic illumination will still turn on even if you turn off the interior light switch.

The Toyota Dealerships can turn off this feature, but I was hoping someone in the TacomaWorld knew of a DIY tip.

    Thanks!

I've seen a few posts about people who store their glove box/tailgate key in the strange clip under the center console lid. I've tried this and have had no luck. Mine just falls out. Does anyone have a picture I could see?

I think most using that clip have a 2016 where the tailgate uses a regular key. Toyota wised up after the first year and made everything use the key in the fob. 20180522_133503_zpsnn8m9m1o_8a22e64b2fd68ab7f52c0ef8dae718b6691a55bc.jpg

Came back to Toyota recently. Owned a 4Runner for 14 years in the past. Happy to be back with a new Tacoma. A bit surprised and disappointed that I only have one key for the tail gate to go with the two FOB. Seems like "a single point of failure" when you are out in the trails and might misplace the one key... Am I missing something?

I think the key inside the FOBs will also open the tailgate.
