What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

They stopped making em...or so I was told...i had one fail on my transfer case n luckily found one on a junked taco in sd...i didnt think to take them all, someone else did a week later when I went back to get em.

 

I didn’t know the Internal Revenue Service made truck suspension!

So how does putting in the sub frame work - is this a cut and weld type of thing?

 

What do you mean transfer case switches, are you talking about the 4WD sensors

They do and tack your car/truck away once your done working on it

 

You need which switches? I can probably find you alternate pns for most

 

There is an electronic switch on the tcase n transmission

 

Plan for the 5-lug for now is just restoring it back to the original stock factory finish and condition, then flipping it. I’m going to be rebuilding the engine shortly over the Summer and doing some major body work on the truck.

Still deciding on a color. I was thinking White, but part of me wants to do some ridiculous color. Cavalry Blue!?

 

No shit...i saw dorman makes em but couldnt get an idea if they are legit, also saw some people had cleaned theirs and got a better current. I dont need them right now but was considering hording them for when they go out randomly again

Ah yes, I mis-identified those as sensors. Those weren’t even connected to anything on my truck when I did my 4WD swap, I actually use them to complete the ground and light up my 4HI, 4LO, and N lights on my instrument cluster.

 

Hmm interesting, one failed on mine and kept me from getting the light on the dash to pop up, i wonder if the shop lied to me saying it restricted my 4wd from engaging

 

Next time I'm at the warehouse on a weekend I'll let you know, if you want to use a forklift. 19th ave and i-10 area.

Damn this thread moves fast, five pages since lunch time.

I packed Sassy up for camping again this weekend. Probably have about 500 pounds of gear in the back... air bags are sweet. I made sure to pack the essentials right close to the back for easy reach.

 

I’m kind of curious, are you keeping the Washington plates - or will you be switching to Arizona?

 

Likely starving becuase all the game has been run off. Land normally for wildlife is being developed at a huge rate. Too many people, too much development, too much human activity.

Keeping WA, both cruiser and taco have a year left on their reggo, so when I skidaddle from AZ at the end of next year back to WA I won't have to change anything. Taco and Cruiser are both emissions exempt next year too and I'll be moving to a county that doesn't inspect or collect money for emissions.

 

Ah. No way to re-register them from out of state?
